On September 11, 2012, His Royal Highness Prince Willem-Alexander of Oranje met with members of the Nationale Jeugd Waterschapsbestuur (National Youth Water Board).
The prince, who is President of the Consultative Commission on Water, participated in a roundtable discussion with the National Youth Water Board in which he listened to the members “… exchange their ideas regarding the importance of water education and the involvement of young people in water management …”

The race, which took place in the canals in Amsterdam, raised money for the ALS Foundation according to the Dutch network, NOS.
Over 1100 people participated in the race including Olympians Pieter van den Hoogenband, Marleen Veldhuis, and Dutch football player, Ronald de Boer, to name a few.
“The foundation provides children, ages 10 to 14 years, from disadvantaged situations the chance of a better future by following weekend practice oriented education to develop their talents and responsibility. The foundation also focuses is on the development of self-reliance, resilience and social competences.”
