LaurentienOn Monday, September 9, 2013, Her Royal Highness Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands arrived at the Efteling in Kaatsheuvel to attend the opening of the 9th Edition of Alfabetisering Week (Literacy Week).

The lovely princess is Chairman of the Stichting Lezen & Schrijven (Reading and Writing Foundation).

Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands Attends a Concert in Rotterdam.

Queen Beatrix 2012On the evening of September 5, 2013, Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands attended the opening of the 18th Edition of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Gergiev Festival in De Doelen in Rotterdam, and to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Mr. Valery Gergiev’s debut with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.

According to RVD, the three-day festival will play various works by three Russian composers: Mr. Sergei Prokofiev, Mr. Igor Stravinsky and Mr. Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky.

His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands Receives the Book, Droomboek. Plus, Other News. (VIDEO)

MWAOn Thursday, September 5, 2013, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands arrived at the Paleis Het Loo in Apeldoorn where His Majesty was presented with the first copy of the book, Droomboek.

The aim of the book is to “…inspire each other and the new king.  The Nationaal Comité Inhuldiging asked everyone [the Dutch people], young and old, to share their dreams for the future of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.” 

Thereafter, Their Majesties opened the new outdoor exhibition entitled, Dromen op Paleis Het Loo: Wandel Door de Dromen Voor de Koning, at the Paleis Het Loo.  According to the Nationaal Comité Inhuldiging visitors who wish to view this special exhibition will walk:

“…along the avenue that leads from the royal stables to the palace. Towering arches with flags display a selection of the poems from the Droomboek. Visitors can stroll under the arches and admire over 120 dreams from the book, expressed in wishes, poems, drawings and paintings.”

News Regarding TMs King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands.

KingWAOn Wednesday, September 4, 2013, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands received credentials from ambassadors representing Denmark, Libya, and Vietnam at Paleis Noordeinde in Den Haag.

Afterward, His Majesty held a brief audience with Professor J.TH.J van den Berg who presented the king with the book entitled, De Eerste Hondervijftig Jaar: Parlementaire Geschiedenis van Nederland, 1796-1946.

Meanwhile, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands arrived in Leiden to open the newly renovated historic tropical greenhouse complex at Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world.  

According to the official website for Hortus Botanicus:

“The Universiteit Leiden commenced on a program of sustainable renovation of the historical tropical glasshouses at the Hortus Botanicus Leiden in April 2012. 

The level of the first glasshouse has been raised and a canopy walk has been constructed from which the visitor can look down on a tropical forest from above. There is a newly created classroom balcony, which will be the starting point for guided tours of the glasshouses. 

The tropical glasshouses will accommodate scientific collections as well those interesting for the general public.”

HM Queen Maxima of the Netherlands Visits Stichting Manteling. (VIDEOS)

maximaOn the morning of September 3, 2103, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands arrived in Middleburg to attend a presentation and visit with Stichting Manteling.

According to RVD, Stichting Manteling is the winner of the Oranje Fonds Kroonappel in the category, Helpende Hand.
