Princess Astrid of Belgium attended a conference at the University of Antwerp regarding poverty, migration and integration The event was organized by the Centre on Inequality, Poverty, Social Exclusion and the City on the occasion of the publication of the 20th Annual Poverty and Social Exclusion.
It’s no secret to all that H.R.H. Prince Laurent of Belgium is a pain in the okole. Recently, the Belgian television network, RTBF, aired a documentary about the troubled prince who steals ice cream, drives like a maniac, was banned from the palace, and has a boorish attitude towards women.

On December 3, 2011, H.R.H. Prince of Belgium, along with his business delegation, arrived in Chile for a five-day economic trade mission. The mission is organized by he Agency for Foreign Trade in collaboration with the regional trade AWEX, Flanders Investment & Trade and Brussels Invest Export.
Meanwhile, H.R.H. Princess Mathilde attended the National Info-Families (JNIF), in Quartier Militaire Major Housiau, where she meet with families and relatives of Belgian soldiers who are involved with peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan and other countries around the world.

On December 1, 2011, H.R.H. Prince Philippe of Belgium attended the closing ceremony of the Internationale de la Chimie 2011 (International Year of Chemistry 2011) in Brussels.
The year 2011 was declared the International Year of Chemistry by the United Nations to mark the centenary of the Nobel Prize for Marie Curie. Tonight’s closing ceremony coincides without he 100th anniversary of the first Solvay Physics Council, which is also being celebrated this year in Brussels.
H.R.H. Princess Astrid of Belgium is currently in Abu Dhabi as part of the delegation for “Roll Back Malaria” (RBM) to raise awareness for the global fight against Malaria, Tuberculosis, and AIDS. The princess is accompanied by Dr. Michel Kazatchkine, Executive Director of the Global Fund to fight against AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis, and by Prof.. Dr. Awa Coll-Seck, Executive Director of Partnership “Roll Back Malaria”. Princess Astrid and her delegation will also visit Kuwait and Qatar in the coming days.
On November 24, 2011, H.R.H. Princess Mathilde of Belgium was in Liege where she participated in a meeting regarding human trafficking. According to the official site for the royal house of Belgium, the meeting was jointly organized by SÜRYA, PAYOKE and PAG-ASA, all three groups are deeply involved in the fight against the problem of modern slavery/human trafficking.
Meanwhile, in Brussels, H.R.H. Princess Astrid attended a medical and scientific research awards ceremony managed by the King Baudouin Foundation.
On November 21, 2011, H.R.H. Princess Mathilde of Belgium was in Eupen and Transinne, Belgium to meet with students from two elementary schools participating in the Journée du Changement (Day of Change) proposed by UNICEF Belgium as part of Journée des Droits de l’Enfant (Day of the Rights of a Child) campaign.
In her capacity as honorary president of UNICEF Belgium, Princess Mathilde spoke with students from the l’Athénée Royal d’Eupen (Royal Athenaeum of Eupen) as well the Transinne elementary schools regarding the importance of education and so forth.
