On February 1, 2012, His Majesty King Albert II of Belgium met with Belgian Prime Minister, Elio de Rupo at Château de Laeken. What they spoke about it unknown; however, it is safe to say that it most likely has something to do with boring politics. 🙂
Meanwhile, Her Majesty Queen Paola of Belgium was in Halle where she visited Heldenhuis, a place where the youth can:
…find the bed, to have moments of relaxation by games or sports as well as to find emotional assistance and support. The objective is to reach as many youths as possible and give them opportunities in a home which offers comfort, protection, warmth and joy.
On January 31, 2012, Their Majesties King Albert II and Queen Paola along with Their Royal Highness Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde, T.I.R.H.s Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz, and T.R.H.s Princess Claire and Prince Laurent “Look at Me! I’m Annoying” of Belgium attended yet another New Year’s reception held at the Palais de Bruxelles.
According to the official website for the royal house, La Monarchie Belge, the reception was held for “…prominent authorities and public personalities…” which included Belgian Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo, French Community and Walloon Minister President Rudy Demotte, Flemish Minister-President Kris Peeters, Vice-Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Didier Reynders, as well as other ministers and magistrates in Belgium.
On January 25, 2012, Their Majesties King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium along with His Royal Highness Prince Philippe hosted a reception for the Presidents and Vice-Presidents of the European Parliament and Union at the Palais de Bruxelles. Other representatives from various international institutions were also present.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day His Majesty King Albert II held an audience with the President of the European Council, Mr. Herman Van Rompuy.
On January 24, 2012, Their Majesties King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium hosted a luncheon for members of the federal government at Château de Laeken. Also in attendance were Their Royal Highnesses Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde, T.I.R.Hs Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz, and T.R.H.s Princess Claire and Prince Laurent “I look like Peter Griffin from Family Guy” of Belgium. 🙂
Earlier in the day, His Majesty held an audience with the prime minister of Belgium Mr. Elio Di Rupo, again, at Château de Laeken.

This morning H.I.R.H. Princess Astrid of Belgium participated in the symposium, Combattre la Pauvreté par l’inclusion Sociale (Combating Poverty through Social Inclusion) held at the Palais de Brussels.
Afterward, the princess attended the 57th Annual Brussels Antiques and Fine Arts Fair held at the Tours & Taxis in Brussels. As the representative of the King Baudouin Foundation Heritage Princess Astrid was the guest of honor at this event.
Her Majesty Queen Paola of Belgium along with Her Royal Highness Princess Mathilde of Belgium attended a gala concert of the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth (Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel) on January 17, 2012.
Held at the Palais des Beaux-Arts, tonight’s concert is presented by the soloists of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel and the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Emmanuel Krivine. Also in attendance was His Royal Highness Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg who is on a working visit to Brussels.
On January 16, 2012, Her Royal Highness Princess Mathilde of Belgium attended the Bien Vivre avec Alzheimer dans sa ville et son Environnement (Living Well with Alzheimer’s in the city and its Environment) Awards in Brussels.
Organized by the European Foundations’ Initiative on Dementia (EFID) this award aims to improve the publics perception of Alzheimer’s disease and to promote solidarity at local level. In addition, the initiative aims to contribute to improving the quality of life of patients and their families.
In the past, the princess has drawn attention to the major challenges to which Alzheimer’s poses in our society and the importance of paying attention on how to deal with this disease as well as to promote the quality of life of people with living with Alzheimer’s.
