On April 17, 2014, Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet of the Netherlands arrived at the Mint in Utrecht to officially open the Rode Kruis Congres 2014 Power to the People: De Kracht van Burgers in de Hulpverlening bij Rampen en Crises.
On Thursday, April 17, 2014, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh arrived at Blackburn Cathedral in Lancashire to attend Royal Maundy Service.
According to ITV News, Maundy Thursday is:
“…the Christian holy day falling on the Thursday before Easter to commemorate the last supper of Jesus with the Apostles and echoes the story of Christ washing the feet of his disciples shortly before his death.
The Maundy Service, which dates back to the 13th century, originally involved the sovereign giving money to the poor and washing their feet, a tradition which ended with James II in the 18th century.”
On Thursday, April 17, 2014, Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge continued their visit to beautiful Australia.
This morning the royal couple visited Winmalee in the Blue Mountains where they “…met with firefighters and locals affected by wildfires that swept through the region last year, destroying more than 200 homes…” according to the Associated Press.
The duke and duchess also visited Winmalee Guide Hall, toured Echo Point “…where they met three Aboriginal Elders representing the Indigenous landowners of Echo Point, and Narrow Neck Lookout where [the royal couple] met young people taking part in adventure programs including abseiling and team building exercises…” and much more.

On Wednesday, April 16, 2014, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden accompanied by her daughter, Her Royal Highness Princess Estelle of Sweden, arrived at the Skansen Akvariet in Stockholm to inaugurate the exhibition, Grodorna: Djungelns Juveler.
This morning the Swedish Royal Court announced that Her Royal Highness Princess Leonore, daughter of Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine of Sweden and Mr. Christopher O’Neill, will be baptized on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at the Slottskyrkan (royal chapel) at Drottningholms Slott.
On Wednesday, April 16, 2014, Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived at the Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport to begin their tour of amazing Australia.
Thereafter, the royal couple visited the famous Sydney Opera House where they attended a “…reception hosted by the Governor and Premier of New South Wales at the Sydney Opera House…” according to the Associated Press.

On April 16, 2014, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco arrived in Madrid, Spain to view the exhibition, Cézanne: Site/Non-Site, at the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza. The sovereign prince generously donated one of his original Paul Cézanne painting’s to the exhibit.
