On March 13, 2014, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands officially opened the new Rotterdam Centraal (Rotterdam Central Station).

According to RVD, the new central station is:

“…the first in a series of new and larger stations in the Netherlands, which are part of the largest railway station and innovation since the creation of the Dutch railways, 175 years ago.

The new station is more spacious, which is enhanced by a large glass window with direct views of the city. The roof above the tracks is made of glass. The station has a walkway that connects the 16 tracks and a new passenger passage of almost 50 meters wide.”
