On July 31, 2012, Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco was at the Aquatic Center in London to watch various swimming competitions. The one event that everyone was anticipating, including the princess, was the Men’s 200m Butterfly Final.
The best of the best competed: Michael Phelps of Team USA, Takeshi Matsuda of Team Japan, Yin Chen of Team China, Pawl Korzeniowski of Team Poland, Tyler Clary of Team USA, Dinko Jukic of Team Austria, and Chad Le Clos of Team South Africa.
Anyway, before the race began many believed one of the greatest athletes ever, Michael Phelps, would win. He didn’t. The winner was Chad Le Clos of Team South Africa with a time of 1:52.96. Mr. Phelps came in at 1:53.01.
So yeah… Princess Charlene was there to cheer on Chad’s amazing swim along his family, friends, and dozens of Team South Africa fans. Oh and Prince Albert was there as well as members of the Grand Ducal family of Luxembourg including Comtesse Stéphanie de Lannoy.
Congrats to Chad!
