Royal Weddings: Videos

It’s been a pretty slow news day for royal watchers; though, I could go into an in-depth discussion about HRH Prince Henrik of Denmark’s unzipped pants during this past New Year’s Court… but I already mentioned/discussed it two days ago so I’ll spare you.   LOL.

As a result, of this incredibly slow news day, I thought it would be a good idea to post various royal wedding videos since there is not much else to discuss until tomorrow.

Enjoy, my friends!   🙂

Miss Charlene Wittstock: The 2010 Personality of the Year

While Prince Albert II of Monaco and his fiancée, Charlene Wittstock, are on holiday in Egypt, the French newspaper, Nice-Matin, decided that Miss Wittstock is their choice for the 2010 Personality of the Year.

Now, I can see why she was picked as the winner.  More than ever, Miss Wittstock was in the public eye with her then boyfriend turned fiancé, HSH Prince Albert II.  Moreover, I suppose it was her strong support to various charities in and out of Monaco that led the editors to choose Miss Wittstock as their chica of the year.

So, congratulations, Charlene!  I’m sure you will win again next year.

Happy Birthday to HRH Duchess Elizabeth of Bavaria

On New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2010, HRH Duchess Elizabeth of Bavaria celebrated her 70th birthday.  The elegant Duchess spent the day with family and friends at church.

In lieu of gifts, the Duchess asked well wishers to donate items to various charities.

HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and Miss Charlene Wittstock’s Christmas Card

Well, we finally have a chance to see what HSH Prince Albert II and Miss Charlene Wittstock’s Christmas card looks like.

An American blogger living in the South of France posted the card on her site (which you can view on her blog.)  Charlene is wearing, what looks to be a black fitted turtleneck dress with her hair in a delicate chignon.  Prince Albert looks, well, like he’s lost weight.

It’s a nice card, obviously taken inside the Palais Princier de Monaco, but nothing all that special.

Peter and Autumn Phillips Baby Name Revealed?

According to the British newspaper, Eastern Daily Press, Peter and Autumn Phillips have named their daughter… Savannah.

Donna Semmens, the reporter from the paper, notes that the baby’s name was revealed during church service at Sandringham which was “…attended by the Royal family this morning.”   Ms. Semmens goes on to note:

…prayers in Sandringham church this morning included a special mention by the Rev Jonathan Riviere for “Peter and Autumn Phillips and their daughter Savannah,” the first time the name has been used in public.

Several royal watchers are in a bit of a fit over the name — Savannah.  Comments range from:

  • “[The name] falls under the category of made-up names along with other cities, last names as first names, and alternatively spelled names. I thought we could count on the royal family for a little more tradition than this. Around this neck of the woods, people name their dogs Savannah!”
  • “It sounds like a stripper’s name!”
  • “Not a name I was expecting, but a lovely one nonetheless. It always makes me think of the beautiful town in Georgia.”

If the baby’s name is Savannah, and there is no confirmation yet, it’s not that bad.  I mean, it could have been worse.  She could have ended up with the name Audio Science or Moon Unit.
