The Princely Family of Monaco Participate in the Distribution of Packages to the Croix-Rouge Monégasque. Plus, Other News

On November 17, 2011, T.S.H.s Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco along with H.S.H. Princess Stephanie presented packages for the elderly within the principality of Monaco who are on the list of the Service for Social Action of the Monégasque.  The event took place at the Red Cross headquarters in Monaco.  To view photos please click here.

In other news, it was announced that Princess Charlene has pledged over one million Rand (the currency of South Africa) to the charity, Giving Trust Organization, in honor of Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s 80th birthday.  According to a spokeswoman for the Giving Trust Organization, the princess who is a co-patron of the Trust, hoped her contribution would “…encourage the public and corporate sector to honour the Archbishop by donating to those in need.”

The Giving Trust Organization represents ten charities in South Africa. The donation was to be divided equally among them.

T.S.H.s Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco Attend a Mass in Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Saint Martin Church in Monaco

On November 13, 2011, T.S.H.s Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco attended the 100th anniversary of the Saint Martin church in Monaco.  The Pontifical Mass, led by Archbishop Bernard Barsi, was also attended by H.R.H. Princess Caroline of Hanover and her daughter, Princess Alexandra.

H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco Visits Several Schools in Monte-Carlo

On November 11, 2011, H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco visited the Monte-Carlo nursery and the Saint-Charles school. In accordance to her wishes, and so as not to disrupt lessons, these visits took place informally in direct contact with the children and teachers.

Upon her arrival at the Monte-Carlo nursery, the Princess, accompanied by the Prince, asked the nursery nurses about the proposed daily activities for the thirty-six children under three who attend the nursery. The Director, Mrs Baron, briefly talked about how the establishment is run. This nursery is managed by the Monaco Town Hall, represented this morning by Mrs Vaccarezza, Head of the Municipal Social Services Department.

The princess then visited the Saint-Charles school. The children, clearly delighted by this visit, welcomed the princess in the great hall with their Director Mrs Dupont and Mrs Bonnal, Director of National Education for Youth and Sports.  Princess Charlene witnessed the implementation of educational workshops in an infants’ class, then She wanted to spend some time with the eight children who benefit from specialist A.I.S. (School Adaptation and Integration) supervision within this establishment.

Princess Charlene commented on the quality of the teaching and the school facilities of these establishments and paid tribute to the professionalism of the teaching staff in Monaco who do so much to help new generations to secure the Principality’s future.

T.S.H.s Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco Attend the Opening of ‘Grace Kelly: From Movie Star to Princess’ Exhibition (VIDEO)

On November 2, 2011, T.S.H.s Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco attended the opening of the highly anticipated exhibition, Grace Kelly: From Movie Star to Princess, at the TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto, Canada.

This special exhibition, based on the Grimaldi Forum’s The Grace Kelly Years, chronicles the late princess’s life:

…told through her personal correspondence, famous fashions, films and a trove of memorabilia. Highlights include letters from “Hitch,” the original Hermès purse that was eventually named for Kelly, her Oscar for The Country Girl and home videos peppered with famous faces. source

After the opening of the exhibition the princely couple along with hundreds of VIPs attended a private reception in honor of the prince and princess of Monaco.

If you happen to live in or around Toronto or may be visiting the area in the future why not visit this special exhibition.  It ends on January 22, 2012.

T.S.H.s Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco Attend the Princess Grace Awards Gala in New York City

On November 1, 2011, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco arrived at Cipriani 42nd Street to attend the 29th Annual Princess Grace Awards Gala in New York City.

This special event honors twenty-one “… emerging artists in theater, dance and film…” There are also two special awards handed out each year, the Prince Rainier III Award and Princess Grace Statue Award.  Ms. Julie Andrews was presented with the Prince Rainier III Award for her “…outstanding contribution to motion picture, television and theater arts … [as well as for her] significant humanitarian contributions to their fields.”  The recipient of the Princess Grace Statue Award was presented to Jon M. Chu. 

During the awards gala Montblanc premiered the Princesse Grace de Monaco Collection which consists of:

… fine jewelry pieces, timepieces and writing instruments true to Princess Grace’s enduring style and sophistication. Feminine and elegant, the pieces from this collection are some of the most exquisite ever crafted in Montblanc’s Ateliers, rich in details and inspired by this icon’s spirit and attention to style.

The Gala began with cocktails, followed by a spectacular opening act; then a 3-course dinner catered by Cipriani 42nd Street; followed by the Awards presentations and finally, dancing to DJ Clockwork in the Chapel Room. Rufus Wainwright performed two Julie Andrews classics and sang “I Could Have Danced All Night” as a tribute to Julie Andrews. Montblanc Brand Ambassador and international rising opera star Shenyang wowed the crowd with a brilliant performance.

Anne Hathaway gave a moving speech in honor of her idol and The Princess Diaries co-star, Julie Andrews. Andrews got a standing ovation from the VIP crowd as she came onto stage to receive her award from H.S.H Prince Albert II.
