H.M. Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, H.R.H. Prince Willem-Alexander of Oranje, and Princess Maxima of the Netherlands Visit the Island of Curaçao… Again.

On November 2, 2011, Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, H.R.H. Prince Willem-Alexander of Oranje, and Princess Maxima of the Netherlands continued their ten-day official visit to the Caribbean this afternoon and once again the royal trio visited the island of Curaçao.

Whilst there they visited the village of Barber where they met many friendly locals who cheered them on as they mingled with the crowds.  Then it was off to a nursing school where Her Majesty Queen Beatrix spoke to the students regarding their studies and so forth.

T.S.H.s Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco Attend the Princess Grace Awards Gala in New York City

On November 1, 2011, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco arrived at Cipriani 42nd Street to attend the 29th Annual Princess Grace Awards Gala in New York City.

This special event honors twenty-one “… emerging artists in theater, dance and film…” There are also two special awards handed out each year, the Prince Rainier III Award and Princess Grace Statue Award.  Ms. Julie Andrews was presented with the Prince Rainier III Award for her “…outstanding contribution to motion picture, television and theater arts … [as well as for her] significant humanitarian contributions to their fields.”  The recipient of the Princess Grace Statue Award was presented to Jon M. Chu. 

During the awards gala Montblanc premiered the Princesse Grace de Monaco Collection which consists of:

… fine jewelry pieces, timepieces and writing instruments true to Princess Grace’s enduring style and sophistication. Feminine and elegant, the pieces from this collection are some of the most exquisite ever crafted in Montblanc’s Ateliers, rich in details and inspired by this icon’s spirit and attention to style.

The Gala began with cocktails, followed by a spectacular opening act; then a 3-course dinner catered by Cipriani 42nd Street; followed by the Awards presentations and finally, dancing to DJ Clockwork in the Chapel Room. Rufus Wainwright performed two Julie Andrews classics and sang “I Could Have Danced All Night” as a tribute to Julie Andrews. Montblanc Brand Ambassador and international rising opera star Shenyang wowed the crowd with a brilliant performance.

Anne Hathaway gave a moving speech in honor of her idol and The Princess Diaries co-star, Julie Andrews. Andrews got a standing ovation from the VIP crowd as she came onto stage to receive her award from H.S.H Prince Albert II.

On November 1, 2011, Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, H.R.H. Prince Willem-Alexander of Oranje, and H.R.H. Princess Maxima of the Netherlands arrived on the island of Curaçao for a visit.

Upon their arrival at the Juan Hato airport, the royal trio were greeted by Minister-President Gerrit Fransisco Schotte as well as other local dignitaries.  After a meeting at Fort Amsterdam Her Majesty Queen Beatrix, H.R.H. Prince Willem-Alexander of , and H.R.H. Princess Maxima visited the Princess Margriet School and an education center for “…horeca students…”

H.M. Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, H.R.H. Prince Willem-Alexander of Oranje and H.R.H. Princess Maxima of the Netherlands Visit Bonaire (VIDEO)

On October 31, 2011, H.M. Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, H.R.H. Prince Willem-Alexander of Oranje and H.R.H. Princess Maxima of the Netherlands visited the island of Bonaire.

During their visit the royal trio were met by a small group of protesters who claimed that life on the island has become too expensive and the facilities on the island are deteriorating. When asked by reporters what she, Queen Beatrix, thought of these demonstrations she noted that she was sympathetic to their situation, but there is little she could do.

H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco Recieves the President of Mali

On October 31, 2011, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco welcomed the president of  the Republic of Mali, Amadou Toumani Touré, to the principality.

The Malian delegation met with members of the Chamber of Economic Development of Monaco, the Government Counsellor for Foreign Relations José Badia and the Government Counsellor for Finance and Economy Marco Piccinini, to develop commercial relations between Mali and Monaco.

This afternoon the prince and the president had an opportunity to discuss Monégasque international cooperation actions in Mali, current economic relations between the two countries, the situation in sub-Saharan Africa as well as multilateral matters. The meeting was followed by a elegant lunch the Palace.

During his stay in the Monaco, President Touré will visit the Oceanographic Museum and Galerie des Pêcheurs for the exhibition of photographs of development cooperation programmes in Mali supported by the government of Monaco in partnership with the Monégasque Red Cross and Prince Albert II Foundation.

Tomorrow, H.S.H. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene will be in New York City to attend the Princess Grace Awards.  Then on Tuesday November 2 the princely couple will be in Toronto, Canada to attend the opening of Grace Kelly: From Movie Star to Princess exhibition.
