On May 10, 2012, His Majesty King Albert II of Belgium visited the European Council, in the Justus Lipsius building, in Brussels. Whilst there the king met with Mr. Herman Van Rompuy, the President of the EC.
Meanwhile, Her Majesty Queen Paola visited the Centre for Palliative Care to celebrate their 25th anniversary and “… the 15th anniversary of the Palliative Care Unit and the 10th anniversary of Heidehuis, three sections of the network of palliative ‘Noord West – Vlaanderen.'”
On May 9, 2012, Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan welcomed the Peruvian President, Mr. Ollanta Humala, and his lovely wife Nadine, to the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.
The president participated in a brief meeting with Emperor Akihito whereupon discussions focused on “… economic and educational cooperation…” Afterward the Emperor and Empress of Japan hosted a fabulous luncheon for their guests at the Imperial Palace.
On May 9, 2012 Her Royal Highness Princess Caroline of Hanover participated in a meeting at the Grand Véfour in Paris, France with the “… literary Council of the Fondation Prince Pierre de Monaco…”
The purpose of the meeting, according to the Principauté de Monaco Gouvernement Monaco, is to establish the list of those:
…selected for the Prince Pierre de Monaco Literary Award. Writers in the running include, Victor-Lévy Beaulieu, René de Ceccaty, Frank Étienne, Jean-Paul Kauffmann and Alain Mabanckou.
Prince Pierre de Monaco Literary Awards will be presented on October 2, 2012 in Monaco.

Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco were in La Turbie in southern France where they visited the Centre de Loisirs Prince Albert II on May 9, 2012.
According to the official site for the Principauté de Monaco: Gouvernement Princier the recreational center:
… hosts, during all school holidays, children aged 3 -12, who are enrolled in a school in Monaco and whose both parents are working.
On May 9, 2012, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall continued their visit in Edinburgh as part of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
On the agenda today: A visit by His Royal Highness to the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Queen Mother’s Memorial Garden where he “… meet staff, volunteers and apprentices…” While the Duchess of Cornwall met with those participating “… in the British Food Fortnight’s Cook for The Queen Diamond Jubilee competition…” held at Holyroodhouse.
The royal couple also watched an Armed Forces personnel parade in front of Holyroodhouse then hosted a luncheon for the members of the Royal British Legion and Armed Forces personnel.
In the evening, the Prince of Wales attended a “… reception and dinner to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Scottish Business in the Community and will present the charity’s 2012 Awards…” held at the National Museum of Scotland.

On May 9, 2012, He Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh attended the State Opening of Parliament. Per tradition Her Majesty gave her annual speech in the of the House of Lords.

While Their Royal Highnesses Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde of Belgium were having a fabulous time in Turnhout, His Majesty King Albert II of Belgium spent the day at Château de Laeken on May 9, 2012.
His Majesty held audiences with ambassadors from South Korea, Poland, Serbia who presented their Lettres de Créance (Letters of Credence) to the king and then posed for photos.
Meanwhile, Princess Astrid of Belgium was in Liège where she visited the non-profit project organization, Caritas Secours Francophone. The organization’s mission is to “… help the homeless and those dealing with severe financial difficulties” according to the Belgian royal court.
