Upon his arrival, the prince was warmly welcomed by representatives from the Dutch Genealogical Society and the Central Bureau for Genealogy (organizers of today’s event), the Mayor of Maastricht, Mr. Onno Hoes as well as the Governor of the Province of Limburg, Mr. Theo Bovens.
According to RVD, the conference:
“… is held every two years and focuses on scientists and lovers of family history and surnames (genealogy) and heraldry and coats of arms (heraldry). There are lectures about DNA testing and family history, the origins of heraldry, and coats of arms of former colonies and new countries.”
On Monday, September 24, 2012, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco participated in the opening ceremony of Climate Week 2012 held at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York City.
The sovereign prince participated in a roundtable discussion with various global leaders as well as CEOs on the theme of, The American Clean Revolution: Generating Growth, Creating Prosperity, Securing Sustainability.
Each of the participants:
“… shared their evidence that an accelerated transition to a low-carbon economy is not just a necessity, but a major economic opportunity for the US and other major economies… They concluded that the transition to a clean energy economy could create more than 1 million new jobs and help the US to avert the effects of climate change, such as extreme weather.”
In his speech the sovereign prince noted:
“While all too often the crisis relegates environmental concerns to second place on the international agenda, it is heart-warming to find ourselves united around a shared conscience. Today, the green economy offers our businesses prospects for growth and profitability. It also shapes the hopes for long-term development in this troubled world.
An increasing number of major players in the economy are committed to this path. The most creative minds, those that will contribute to the growth of the future, already have their eyes on the clean revolution. I am delighted that The Climate Group, in partnership with my Foundation among others, is encouraging business and government leaders by communicating the economic opportunities presented by bold climate action…”
His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain met with former President Bill Clinton on September 23, 2012, in New York City. The old king is in the city to attend the 2012 Clinton Global Initiative Meeting which ends on September 25, 2012.
Other royals will be attending this important event including Her Majesty Queen Rania al Abdullah of Jordan, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, and Her Highness Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel of Saudi Arabia to name a few.

During the award ceremony the prince presented medals as well as flowers to the winners. When asked what he thought of today’s race the prince replied, “It was a fantastic championship!” On the final day of the race over 200, 000 cycling fans came out to cheer for their favorite racer.

The gala dinner raised money for the charities, Cékedubonheur and Jeune J’écoute. Guests at the event included NBA basketball star, Tony Parker and his girlfriend, Omar Sy, Inna Modja, and many more.
Her Royal Highness Princess Caroline of Hanover is patron of the Jeune J’écoute charity who also celebrated their 30th anniversary last night.
