His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco finally announced the name of the architecture company who will be in charge of constructing the new Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace in Monaco. The sovereign prince stated:
“I am pleased to announce that the project selected is the program submitted by AECOM Limited – Natacha Morin Innocenti – Architecte international AIA – AIA Ingénierie and TRACTEBEL Engineering SA. Its daring, modern and functional conception makes it ideally suited to the needs of the Monégasque people, residents of the Principality and inhabitants of neighboring communes.”
Construction is due to be completed in 2026.
In other news, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene presided over the first annual meeting of the Fondation Princesse Charlene de Monaco on Monday. Also attending the meeting was the princess’s close friend and former Olympian, Ms. Franziska van Almsick, who is Treasurer of the Fondation.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh along with various heads of state, former British prime ministers, various foreign dignitaries, family, and friends attended the funeral of the late British Prime Minister, The Right Honorable Baroness Thatcher of Kesteven, LG, OM, FRS, held at the magnificent St. Paul’s Cathedral in London this morning. The late Baroness, who was the British Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990, died of a stroke last week at the age of 87.
His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco has sent his message of condolence to the victims, families, the people of the United States of America and President Obama yesterday upon hearing the horrific news of the two bomb explosions that killed three innocent people and severely injured 176 innocent individuals during the Boston Marathon in Boston, Massachusetts on Monday, April 15, 2013.

Their Royal Highnesses Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg continued their three-day state visit to lovely Vienna, Austria on April 16, 2013. And, so far, they are having a fabulous time. 🙂

Their Royal Highnesses Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde of Belgium visited the Roma Theater in Borgerhout this evening to attend a charity gala for the benefit of the Fondation Roi Baudouin.
Also, it was announced that the royal couple will attend the inauguration/investiture of His Royal Highness Prince Willem-Alexander of Orange as king at the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam on April 30, 2013.
His Royal Highness Prince Daniel of Sweden was at the Karolinska Universitetssjukhusets this afternoon to visit the “…transplant surgical clinic…” according to the Swedish royal court. During his tour of the clinic the prince met with staff as well as patients.
