Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan Opens a Special Exhibition at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts. Plus, Other News. (VIDEOS)

Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan arrived at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts in Amman this afternoon to attend the opening of the special exhibition, 70 Years of Contemporary Jordanian Fine Arts.

According to the official website for the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts this exhibition: 

“…showcase[s] over 200 works created by 195 Jordanian artists from different generations.

Boasting a historical documentation of the Jordanian artistic heritage throughout the years, the collection on display manifests the efforts made by the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts to compile a comprehensive visual representation of Jordan’s rich visual art history.

This exhibition is Jordan’s biggest to date, effectively reflecting the gallery’s role as a patron of the arts and as a reference source for those wishing to know more about Jordanian artists.

The works on display will also be featured in a catalogue that documents biographical information about their creators. The book will also include a chronological history of the Jordanian art movement in its various phases, while reflecting the role played by the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts as a promoter and patron of the arts.”

In other news, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II of Jordan was in Salt this afternoon to officially open the “…Saltos Hotel which is part of the Salt Vocational Training Center…” according to Petra News.  During today’s event the heir to the Jordanian throne toured the facility, met with staff, students and was “…briefed on the training program and its objectives…”

HRH Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands Opens the Villa Mondriaan Museum.

BeatrixAh, it is so nice to see her again!  This morning Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands arrived at the Villa Mondriaan in Winterswijk to attend the opening of the museum and its exhibition entitled, Where it All Started.

The exhibition displays various works highlighting the early years of famed Dutch artist the late Mr. Pieter Cornelis Mondriaan, Jr. (aka Piet Mondrian).

Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duke of Cambridge Host an Important Conference at St. James’s Palace. (VIDEOS)

On May 21, 2013, Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duke of Cambridge hosted an important conference at St. James’s Palace in London urging those “…at the highest level to form a global partnership to stop the illegal trade in wildlife…” according to the official website for The Prince of Wales.

News Report About the Upcoming Trip

It was announced by the Imperial Household Agency (IHA) that His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan will visit Spain beginning on June 10-16, 2013.  Unfortunately, Her Imperial Highness Crown Princess Masako of Japan will not accompany her husband during the upcoming official visit to “…mark the 400th anniversary of bilateral relations between Japan and Spain.”

In other news, the IHA also announced that Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan will scale back on several of their “…public duties once Their Majesties turn 80 years old [at the end of the year].”   The engagements, which includes visiting homes for the elderly, will be taken over by Their Imperial Highnesses Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako as well as by Their Imperial Highnesses Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko.

And, finally, this morning at the Imperial Palace in Japan, His Imperial Majesty participated in the “…ceremonial transplanting of rice seedlings in a paddy; an annual tradition which was started by his father, Emperor Showa, to promote production of rice, Japan’s staple food…” according to NHK News.

On May 20, 2013, His Royal Highness Prince Philippe of Belgium accompanied by his daughter, Princess Elisabeth, arrived at the Tour & Taxis in Brussels to visit the exhibition, Inside the Station: The Princess Elisabeth Antarctica.

According to the Belgian royal court, the exhibition “…takes visitors on an interactive journey inside Belgium polar station ‘Princess Elisabeth Antarctica’.”  For more information about the exhibition please click here.

TSHs Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco Visit Corsica. (VIDEOS)

On Monday, May 20, 2013, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco arrived in Lucciana on the island of Corsica for a brief visit.

According to the Palais Princier, the princely couple attended a:

 “…solemn Mass at the Cathédrale Santa Maria Assunta presided over by the Bishop of Corsica, Monsignor Olivier de Germay, and the Archbishop of Monaco, Monsignor Bernard Barsi.  The princely couple then participated in a procession around the Cathédrale de Mariana, toured an archaeological site, and visited a craft fair.  In the afternoon, the sovereign prince and Princess Charlene visited the Paroisse Saint Michel dedicated to Sainte Dévote.”
