News Regarding HRH Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands.

beatrix_fonds_800x540On Friday, May 24, 2013, Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands arrived in Den Bosch to open the newly renovated Noordbrabants Museum and the Stedelijk Museum’s new Hertogenbosch.  The two museums are now connected by a glass corridor around a monumental garden according to RVD.   

The Noordbrabants Museum displays ancient and contemporary art as well as the history of North Brabant and the southern Netherlands. While the Stedelijk Museumm’s Hertogenbosch displays contemporary art and design as well as collections of jewelry and ceramics.

Later in the afternoon, the princess arrived in Scheveningen where she unveiled a new monument entitled, VissersNamenMonument, dedicated to “…fishermen who lost their lives at sea.”

TMs King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium Visit Oostende.

belgiumOn Friday, May 24, 2013, Their Majesties King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium arrived in the coastal town of Oostende located in the province of West Flanders according to the Belgian royal court.

During their visit Their Majesties attended the inauguration of the monument entitled, Vindictive, in honor of the British naval warship, HMS Vindictive, which sunk in the harbor of Oostende during WWI. The reigning couple also attended the four-day annual maritime festival, Oostende voor Anker.

Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain and Her Royal Highness Infanta Elena of Spain Attend the 2012 Premios Sociales de la Fundación Mapfre.

awardsOn the morning of May 23, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain accompanied by Her Royal Highness Infanta Elena of Spain attended the 2012 Premios Sociales de la Fundación Mapfre held at El Plantío in Madrid.  Four awards were presented to “…individuals or institutions in recognition of their contributions for the benefit of society.”

The recipient of the José Manuel Martínez a Toda una Vida Profesional Award went to, Dr. Pedro Guillén García.  The recipient of the Mejor Gestión Medioambiental Award went to the non-profit organization, Conservation Trust of Puerto Rico.  The recipient of the Mejor Acción Solidaria Award went to the Foundation for Integral Development (FUDI).  And, finally, the recipient of the Mejor Acción de Prevención de Accidentes y de Daños a la Salud Award went to Safe Kids, Safe Crianca Brazil.

His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan Holds an Audience with the Executive Director of the International Press Institute.

King Abdullah of JordanHis Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan met with the Executive Director of the International Press Institute (IPI), Ms. Alison McKenzie, this morning in Amman.

The IPI recently held their annual World Congress, under the theme Documenting Change: Empowering Media, and the 62nd General Assembly in Amman. Topics discussed during the three-day conference included issues regarding the Middle East and “…the relationship between the Arab Spring and the media…” 

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh Visit Cambridge. (VIDEOS)

On May 23, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh arrived in Cambridge this morning for a one-day visit. Today’s activities included a visit to the Medical Research Laboratory where they toured the facility, met withy staff, and unveiled a plague marking their visit.

After a brief lunch, Her Majesty and the duke arrived at the Rosie Maternity Hospital where she officially opened the “…£30 million Birth Centre.”  Soon, Her Majesty was given a tour of the new center while The Duke of Edinburgh visited the neonatal care unit.  The day ended with a visit to Rosie Coffee Shop where they “…met with staff and fundraisers before attending a reception…”

News Regarding TRHs The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall. (VIDEOS)

On Thursday, May 23, 2013, Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall arrived in Hay-on-Wye, Wales, to officially open the 2013 Hay Literary Festival held at Brecon Beacons National Park.

This fantastic ten-day festival brings together book lovers to, “…celebrate great writing from poets and scientists, lyricists and comedians, novelists and environmentalists, and the power of great ideas to transform our way of thinking…” notes the official website for the festival.

During their visit the royal couple toured the site and attended a reception, hosted by the School Library Association, with various authors.  Afterward, The Duchess of Cornwall “…met with school children to participate in the launch of the Summer Reading Challenge” while The Prince of Wales, as patron “…met with local farmers.”

Whilst in village of Hay-on-Wye the royal couple visited local businesses and mingled with the people.  In the evening, The Prince of Wales attended night one of the Welsh National Opera’s performance of Richard Wagner’s, Lohengrin, held at the Wales Millennium Center in Cardiff.
