TRHs Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie of Luxembourg Visit the Liewenshaff Socio-Educational Center

On Friday, March 11, 2022, Their Royal Highnesses Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie of Luxembourg visited the Liewenshaff Socio-Educational Center in Merscheid, Luxembourg.

Established in 1992 by the non-profit organization, Päerds Atelier, volunteers from the Liewenshaff Socio-Educational Center provide “…help for young people over the age of 16 with behavioral difficulties and/or those who dropped out of school…” according to the Cour Grand-Ducale de Luxembourg.

The Liewenshaff Socio-Educational Center currently has twenty students who are supported by an educational and multi-disciplinary team. In a workshop, a teacher ensures the “…professionalization of young people through five modules: Iron, Agronomy, Horticulture, Cooking and Industrial Cleaning. “

Anyway, during today’s visit the royal couple met with students, staff, and toured the Liewenshaff Socio-Educational Center grounds.

HRH The Prince of Wales Meets “Heroes of the Pandemic” Stamp Design Competition Winners

On Thursday, March 10, 2022, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales met with winners of the Royal Mail’s, Heros of the Pandemic, stamp design competition during a reception at Clarence House in London, England.

HRH Crown Princess Mette-Marit Visits Gamlebyen Elementary School in Oslo

On Thursday, March 10, 2022, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway visited eh Gamlebyen Elementary school in Oslo.

According to the Norwegian royal court the Gamlebyen Elementary school is participating in a:

“…literature festival arranged for the students at the school.  In the school’s library, Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess met with fourth-graders. 

The school library is an important meeting place and an area for learning about literature and culture for students both during the reading week and throughout the rest of the year. Every week, all the classes visit the library, which is often referred to as the heart of the school, according to library teacher Elisabeth Jensen Lombnæs. 

During the annual reading week at Gamlebyen School, all students read selected books that they discuss together in the classrooms. 

This year the fourth graders read the book ‘Jørgen + Anne er Sant’, a Norwegian children’s book about falling in love by Vigdis Hjort. The book was published in 1984. 

Together with the fourth graders, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Mayor of Oslo Marianne Borgen and librarian Elisabeth Jensen Lombnæs discussed the book and reflected on the topics it addresses.

The students also talked about other books they appreciated and how they use the school library in everyday life. 

The visit to the school library was rounded off with a performance of a poem written by the fourth graders: ‘Imagine that love is here on earth, hiding everywhere and where we live”, said one of the students who read the poem.’ “

On Thursday, March 10, 2022, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco and Her Royal Highness Princess Caroline of Hanover attended the opening of the 11th Edition of the Rencontres Internationales Monaco et la Méditerranée (RIMM) conference held at the Musée Océanographique de Monaco.

This year’s conference focused on the islands of the eastern basin of the Mediterranean and the Tyrrhenian Sea.

TMs King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium Participate in a Roundtable Meeting with Experts from the Covid-19 Management Strategy (GEMS)

On Thursday, March 10, 2022, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium participated in a roundtable meeting with the Belgian Covid-19 Commissioner, Mr. Pedro Facon, scientists, medical doctors and professors from the Covid-19 Management Strategy (GEMS) team at the Palais Royal in Brussels.

During the meeting, Their Majesties thanked GEMS and Mr. Facon for their extraordinary commitment throughout their mandate, which ends in early April. The vaccination strategy in Belgium, the next phase of the pandemic and the lessons to be learned from the Covid crisis are among the topics discussed during the conversation.  

(VIDEO) TMs King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands Meet with Ukrainian Refugees in Ede

On Thursday, March 10, 2022, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands meet with Ukrainian refugees and representatives from the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) at Harskamp, a refugee shelter army camp, in Ede, Netherlands.

According to RVD, last Thursday the first:

“…120 Ukrainian refugees arrived at the Harskamp army camp. The maximum capacity of 950 refugees has now been reached. In collaboration with, among others, the Red Cross, the Netherlands Council for Refugees and the Ministry of Defense caterer, COA received the Ukrainians and provided them with basic needs.”

During today’s visit Their Majesties met with Ukrainian citizens who had fled their home country, listened to their stories and expressed their support and condolences.

The royal couple discussed the role of the municipality of Ede in the “…reception of refugees with the village council of Harskamp and municipal officials. In conclusion, COA employees, various partner organizations and volunteers explained how they started the reception in recent weeks and what logistical and other challenges it entails.”

TRHs Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg Meet with Ukrainian Refugees.

On Wednesday, March 9, 2022, Their Royal Highnesses Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg met with Ukrainian refugees, Iryna and her son, Yaroslav, at the Palais Grand-Ducal in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg.

According to the Cour Grand-Ducale during the meeting Iryna told her story of how she and her son fled Ukraine due to the ongoing conflict:

“…[Iryna and Yaroslav] boarded a crowded train which took them to the Hungarian border. [On the train there was an] Ukrainian woman who resides in Luxembourg who was returning home. Together, with three other compatriots, they reached Bratislava from where they flew to Charleroi thanks to the generosity of Luxembourg friends. From there, a car was waiting to take them back to the Grand Duchy.

During the meeting, Mrs. Anna Dolya, a representative from the LUkraine Association and Mr. Claude Radoux, Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Luxembourg gave an update on the situation in Ukraine. Faced with a humanitarian emergency, the Grand-Ducal Couple praised the enormous work and efforts of the associations mobilized in unison, without forgetting the numerous citizen actions of solidarity with the Ukrainians.”
