(VIDEO) Queen Sofia of Spain Receives an Award.

On Tuesday, June 23, 2015, Queen Sofia of Spain received the UNICEF Comité Español’s 2015 Joaquín Ruiz-Giménez Award.  The ceremony, presided over by Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain, was held at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas in Madrid.

Queen Sofia received the award for her “…work and commitment in support of the most vulnerable people, especially the children, in the last 50 years.”

News Regarding His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco.

On Friday, June 19, 2015, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco inaugurated the  Maison de l’Apidologie à Mazaugues in southeastern France.  The new laboratory “…will protect the bees by studying their operations and promoting their fertility…” according to the Palais Princier.

On Saturday, June 20, 2015, the sovereign prince attended the presentation of the ship, Yersin, at the Yacht Club de Monaco.  The exploration ship is “..both a private boat and multi-purpose vessel for sailing on all oceans and in all weathers. The Yersin is designed to travel, explore, and educate…”  

And, finally, this afternoon, the sovereign prince received credentials from the Ambassador of Italy, Mr. Massimo Lavezzo Cassinelli, at the Palais Princier de Monaco.

Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands Attends a Conference in Utrecht.

On Monday, June 22, 2015, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands attended the conference, The Future of Farming and Food Security in Africa, held at the RABO Bank headquarters in Utrecht.

Today’s conference focused on “…food security and supply in Africa…” according to RVD.

(VIDEO) HM Queen Maxima of the Netherlands Opens an Exhibition.

On Friday, June 19, 2015, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands opened the exhibition, Design Derby: Nederland-België (1815-2015), at the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam.

Curated by Ms. Mienke Simon Thomas, Senior Curator of Applied Art and Design, Mr. Frank Huygens, Head of Research at Design Museum Ghent, the exhibition is a:

“…retrospective of Dutch and Belgian design over the past 200 years. Five hundred objects will be on show from the two neighbouring countries, varying from silver, glass, ceramics and posters to furniture, fashion and cars. The objects will be presented next to each other, in chronological order. At each moment of the time-line from 1815 to 2015, the visitor can see the most interesting items from the Netherlands and what Belgium, in turn, considered as exemplary at this juncture.”

Design Derby: Nederland-België (1815-2015) will be open to the public on June 20 – September 13, 2015.  Thereafter, the exhibition will move to the Design Museum Ghent beginning on October 23, 2015 – February 14, 2016.

On Thursday, June 18, 2015, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, Their Royal Highnesses Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg, and His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent celebrated the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo in Waterloo, Belgium.
