On Saturday, June 13, 2015, His Royal Highness Prince Carl Philip of Sweden married the love of his life, Miss Sofia Hellqvist, inside the Slottskyrkan at the Kungliga Slottet in Stockholm.  The lovely ceremony was presided over by Lars-Göran Lönnermark, head Predicate and Bishop Emeritus, and Michael Bjerkhagen, Pastor of the Royal Court Parish.

The processional song was Athair ar Neamh by Enya.  Hymns during the ceremony were #289: Wide is, o Lord, Your Love, like Beach and Meadow and #200: Go Seek, My Heart, the Joys of Life.  The traditional wedding songs Fix You by Coldplay and Umbrella by Rihanna were also included in the ceremony.

psssofiaNow, onto the Princess Sofia’s gown.  It was designed by Swedish designer, Ms. Ida Sjöstedt. According to the Swedish royal court the gown is made from:

“…silk crepe overlaid with Italian silk organza. Couture lace made by José María Ruiz was applied to the dress and the train was hand-cut and then hand-stitched in Ida Sjöstedt’s atelier in Stockholm.

The veil in thin bridal tulle was also hand-embroidered with sheer cotton lace.  The tiara is a gift from The King and Queen to Princess Sofia.

The bride carried a cascade style bouquet of garden roses with a traditional sprig of myrtle from Sofiero. The flowers were in shades of cream and coral.”

sweden

On Saturday, June 13, 2015, His Royal Highness Prince Carl Philip of Sweden will finally marry his longtime love, Miss Sofia Hellqvist, inside the magnificent Slottskyrkan (royal chapel) at the Kungliga Slottet in Stockholm.

If you are interested in watching the royal wedding Sveriges Television (SVT) will, thankfully, broadcast the entire extravaganza — live online — beginning at 2 P.M. Stockholm time.  The broadcast will include pre-wedding ceremony festivities (hence a lot of chit-chatting between the fantastic SVT journalists as well as royal and etiquette experts), the entire royal wedding ceremony, the incredibly long carriage ride through the streets of Stockholm, the glorious gala reception, long speeches, the cutting of the cake, and so forth.

For those of you who were fortunate enough to watch the 2010 royal wedding live between HRH Crown Princess Victoria and Mr. Daniel Westling, well, SVT‘s upcoming broadcast of Prince Carl Philip’s wedding is reportedly going to be shown in similar fashion.

Anyway, onto the who’s who royal guest-list.  So far confirmed guests include:

  1. Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark
  2. Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark
  3. Their Royal Highnesses Prince Joachim and Princess Marie of Denmark
  4. Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of Belgium
  5. Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands
  6. Their Royal Highnesses The Earl and Countess of Wessex
  7. Her Majesty Queen Sonja of Norway
  8. Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway

  10. Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado

At this time members of the Spanish royal family, the royal house of Jordan, the grand-ducal family of Luxembourg nor the princely family of Monaco have yet to confirm their attendance.  Royals from non-reigning houses who may attend the royal wedding include His Highness Prince Andreas of Saxe-Coburg und Gotha, Their Highnesses Hereditary Prince Hubertus and Hereditary Princess Kelly of Saxe-Coburg und Gotha (who is due to give birth to her second child in July), the entire Greek royal family, and perhaps a few royals here and there from Germany, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Romania.

Now, if you want to follow the wedding with other royal watchers via Twitter and/or Instagram the official hashtags will be #kungaligbröllop2015 and #royalwedding2015.

To wrap things up the entire royal wedding will be broadcast live on SVT beginning at 2 P.M. Stockholm time.  Please click here and/or here for the direct SVT link.  Bookmark them.

Furthermore, SVT is known to be a quite generous network so if you missed the royal wedding live there is a good chance the network will re-broadcast the event and keep it on their site for several days.  Basically, if you missed royal wedding I’m sure it will be online for some time.  If not, I’m sure someone will upload the whole wedding onto You Tube.

Need a timezone convertor?  Click here to find out when the royal wedding will air in your local timezone (probably in the wee hours of the morning).

And, finally, if you would like to watch a pre-wedding interview on Friday, June 12 with the happy couple and hosted by the lovely Miss Ebba von Sydow then please click here and bookmark the link.

As the royal wedding approaches I have no doubt there will be more updates to this post so please stay tuned and have a wonderful weekend, everyone!   🙂

(VIDEOS) News Regarding HRH Prince Carl Philip of Sweden and Miss Sofia Hellqvist.

cps

On Sunday, May 17, 2015, His Royal Highness Prince Carl Philip of Sweden and his fiancée, Miss Sofia Hellqvist, attended a banns ceremony — ahead of their June 13, 2015, wedding — inside the Slottskyrkan royal chapel at the royal palace in Stockholm.

Guests in attendance included Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, TRHs Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel and HRH Princess Estelle of Sweden, Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine of Sweden and Mr. Christopher O’Neill and HRH Princess Leonore of Sweden, various government officials, family and friends. Thereafter, a reception was held at the royal palace for the happy couple.

Anyway, several weeks ago the couple announced:

“…to coincide with their marriage [that they have] created the Prince Couple’s Foundation. The object of the Foundation is to promote and support children and youth in care and educational settings. This cause has the sincere commitment of the Prince Couple.

For well-wishers, the bride and groom request that any kind gifts be in the form of charitable donations to the Prince Couple’s Foundation.”

Meanwhile, the Swedish royal court announced — to no ones surprise — that upon her marriage to Prince Carl Philip Miss Hellqvist will receive the title of Her Royal Highness Princess Sofia of Sweden, Duchess of Värmland.

And, finally, the Swedish television network, SVT, announced they will air their exclusive interview with the couple on Friday, June 12, 2015.  The next day, SVT will air the royal wedding live from the religious ceremony at the Slottskyrkan through the carriage ride in Stockholm.
