On Wednesday, May 22, 2013, His Royal Highness Prince Daniel of Sweden participated in the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs conference entitled, Fine-Tuning Health Care: Improved Outcomes and Cost Efficiency Using Quality Registries, in Stockholm.  For more information about today’s event as well as to view photos please click here.

Meanwhile, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria attended the 100th anniversary of the Enskilda Gymnasiets in Stockholm.

Mr. Christopher O’Neill Respectfully Declines a Royal Title.

PMCO2012Per the Swedish royal court:

Mr. Christopher O’Neill is and remains an American citizen, and he intends to continue his business activities as before following his marriage to H.R.H. Princess Madeleine. In accordance with royal protocol, a member of the Royal Family should be a Swedish citizen, and should not hold a position of responsibility within business.

This means that, in accordance with these principles, Mr Christopher O’Neill cannot hold the title H.R.H. Prince of Sweden or Duke of Gästrikland and Hälsingland. 

In view of these requirements, Mr Christopher O’Neill has respectfully requested to remain a private citizen and not to be granted royal rank.

In other news, the combined monogram of the couple has been finally released today.  The joint MC was designed by heraldic artist, Mr. Vladmir Sagerlund.

Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden Visit Wilmington, Delaware. (VIDEOS)

On May 11, 2013, Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden arrived in Wilmington, Delaware to celebrated the 375th anniversary of the landing of the Kalmar Nyckel ship and the establishment of the New Sweden colony.

Prior to their arrival in Wilmington Their Majesties visited the “…Finnish Settlers monument at Crozer Park…” in Chester, Pennsylvania.

TMs King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden Visit Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (VIDEO)

On Friday, May 10, 2013, Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for a brief visit.  This morning the reigning couple arrived at City Hall where Mayor Michael Nutter gave a lovely speech about the historical ties between Philadelphia and Sweden.

Afterward, Their Majesties visited the American Swedish Historical Museum, the Liberty Bell and of course Independence Hall located at the Independence National Historical Park.

Tomorrow, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia will arrive in Wilmington, Delaware to celebrate the 375th anniversary of the Kalmar Nyckel’s arrival in Delaware and the first Swedish settlement in the USA.

swedenOn Thursday, May 9, 2013, Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden arrived in Washington, DC for a brief visit.

This afternoon the reigning couple attended a lunch meeting with “…members of the Swedish Congressional Caucus.”  Their Majesties also visited the Department of the Treasury where they attended the unveiling of a new portrait of the “…Congressional Gold Medal that will be posthumously presented to Raoul Wallenberg.”

The king and queen also visited the National Museum of the American Indian and this evening, according to various sources, they will attend a ballet performance at the Kennedy Center.  On Friday, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia will arrive in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for a one-day visit.  On Saturday, Their Majesties will arrive in Wilmington, Delaware to participate in the “…375th anniversary of the Kalmar Nyckel’s arrival in Delaware…”

TMs King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden Enjoying the Sites in New York City.

swedenTheir Majesties King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden arrived in New York City last evening to begin their four-day visit to the United States in “...in connection with the 375th anniversary of the Kalmar Nyckel’s arrival in Delaware and the first Swedish settlement in the USA” according to the Swedish royal court.

This morning Their Majesties accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine of Sweden and her fiancé, Mr. Christopher O’Neill, had a nice family outing whilst visiting the Castle Clinton National Monument in Battery Park, New York City.  Soon, the lovely royal family took a boat ride to Ellis Island as well as to Liberty Island where they gazed upon the majestic Statue of Liberty.  Afterward, Their Majesties headed on over to Harlem where they enjoyed a fabulous lunch at the famous Red Rooster restaurant.

Anyway, according to various sources Their Majesties will visit Washington, DC and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Whilst in Philly Their Majesties will “… tour of City Hall before visiting the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the Barnes and the American Swedish Historical Museum…” before heading on over to Wilmington, Delaware.
