On March 5, 2013, Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan arrived in Ankara, Turkey for a two-day official visit at the invitation of the President of Turkey, Mr. Abdullah Gül.

After a welcoming ceremony at the Ankara International Airport and a brief visit to the Mustafa Kemel Atatürk mausoleum His Majesty participated a meeting with President Gül at the Çankaya presidential palace.

Discussions focused on bilateral and regional issues as well as the crisis in Syria in which he called for “…a comprehensive political solution that puts an end to the bloodshed and restore the security and stability in Syria, and preserve the unity of its people and territory.” His Majesty also “…expressed concern over the security of Jerusalem and its holy sites [Muslim and Christian]…” according to various sources.

Meanwhile, Her Majesty Queen Rania attended a luncheon with First Lady Hayrünnisa Gül inside the Ottman Hall at the Çankaya presidential palace.

In the evening, Their Majesties attended a gala dinner held in their honor.

Beginning on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan will begin their two-day visit to Turkey.

According to the Petra News Agency, Their Majesties will attend a meeting with the President of Turkey, Mr. Abdullah Gül, and the Prime Minister of Turkey, Mr. Recep Erdogan.  Discussions will focus on “…bilateral relations and the latest developments in the region.”

On Wednesday, Their Majesties will attend a meeting with the Jordanian-Turkish business community “…organized by the Union of Chambers and the Commodity Exchanges of Turkey.  The meeting aims at enhancing economic ties and trade exchange.”

On Sunday, March 3, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan participated in the Post-2015 Development Priorities for the Arab World workshop in Amman.

According to Petra News Agency, the purpose of the workshop is to “…discuss the main development challenges and priorities of the Arab world which will help shape the Post-2015 Development Agenda.”

Meanwhile, His Majesty King Abdullah II visited the headquarters of the King Abdullah II Fund for Development in Amman where he met with the president and members of the board of trustees.  Click here for more information about today’s event.

According to Agence France-Presse, His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan met with Israel’s Prime Minister, Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu, in Jordan last week.  Discussions focused on the Middle East peace process.

His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan held an audience on February 27, 2013, with Egypt’s Shura council speaker, Mr. Ahmed Fahmi.

According to the Petra News Agency, discussions focused on the “…cooperation between Jordan and Egypt, stressing the need to forge closer bilateral ties in various fields…”
