On Thursday, March 6, 2014, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco continued his visit to Rabat, Morocco.
According to AFP, the sovereign prince visited the “…necropolis complex of [the] ancient Roman Mauretania Tingitana…” and the Chellah archeological site. Thereafter, Prince Albert II visited the Fondation Orient-Occident and the Moroccan Association for Support and Assistance to People with Down’s Syndrome (AMSAT) in Rabat.
On March 5, 2014, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco arrived at the Galerie Bab Rouah in Rabat, Morocco, to attend the inauguration of the exhibition, Le Prince Albert I de Monaco à la Découverte du Maroc à la Fin du 19ème Siècle.
Tomorrow, the sovereign prince will visit the Chellah archeological site just outside of Rabat before visiting the Fondation Orient-Occident according to the Palais Princier.
And, finally, last Saturday evening Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco attended the 2014 St. David’s Day charity gala dinner held at the Hôtel de Paris in Monte-Carlo.

On the afternoon of February 25, 2014, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco attended the 2014 World Ocean Summit held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Half Moon Bay, California.
During today’s gathering the sovereign prince gave a lecture as well as participated in the panel discussion entitled, Sustainable Strategies for the Ocean:
“Detailing sustainable strategies for the ocean is a complex task. A multitude of public and private actors are involved, and there are considerable threats and externalities that are not wholly understood. It remains unclear how the flow of existing and new economic activity might deplete (or potentially add to) the stock of natural capital, and whether new uses will conflict or align with existing ones as the ocean increasingly teems with activity. The impetus to sustainable growth must address a complex set of aims including equity, preserving natural capital, building strong communities and habitats, and staying low carbon or carbon-neutral. As you can’t manage what you can’t measure, progress toward each of these aims must be quantifiable. Minimising environmental impact is no longer sufficient: a new mindset must somehow realign the diverse interests of business, government, society and the environment.
The private sector can play a leading role in this change. As resources become more constrained and ecosystems more fragile, companies have much to gain from developing sustainable business models. Without these models, they face enormous risks to competitive advantage, supply chains, access to markets and finance, and to their reputation.
The task is not for the private sector alone. All of the ocean’s stakeholders must work in concert. But what does this mean, exactly? What would a set of key progress indicators for blue growth look like, and how would they help stakeholders rethink what they do or how they do it?”
On the afternoon of February 24, 2014, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco arrived at the International Mark Hopkins Hotel in lovely San Francisco, California, to give a lecture to members of the Commonwealth Club of California.
As I mentioned earlier this month the purpose of the sovereign prince’s lecture was to discuss “…the State of the Oceans in a Modern World…” and his life-long dedication to the environment.
On Friday, February 21, 2014, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco attended the closing of the Conférence Diplomatique de la Principauté held at the Fairmont Monte Carlo.
In other news, the sovereign prince and Princess Charlene of Monaco will attend the 2014 World Ocean Summit held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in beautiful Half Moon Bay, California this week. Prince Albert will give a keynote speech during the two-day conference.
According to a press release the purpose of the World Ocean Summit is to:
“…find solutions that reconcile the need for economic growth with the increasing challenges of global ocean conservation.
Two things are central to the World Ocean Summit 2014: governance and sustainability. To safeguard the oceans, increased governance will in many cases be desirable if not inevitable. But good governance is difficult to maintain—not least in the high seas, where there is little formal jurisdiction. Better governance is intimately linked to the sustainable use of our seas. The challenge now is to design a regime that successfully balances economic development with sustainability.
World Ocean Summit 2014 will offer delegates an opportunity to better understand the risks brought about by degradation of the ocean and help shape debate about its governance.”
