HSH Prince Albert of Monaco Wishes You a Happy New Year

HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco wishes the Monégasques and you — that’s right you — a happy New Year.

Per Nice-Matin via the Palais Princier de Monaco PR people, here is HSH Prince Albert’s speech:

Dear compatriots, dear friends,
I am pleased to express warm wishes I form for each and everyone of you, at the dawn of the new year.
In this period plagued by signs of economic recovery and where environmental concerns are now better understood, I would hope that we all recognize the need to adopt a lifestyle looking to the future. Together, demonstrating our confidence in the future and witness a real solidarity, both with our loved ones in our country and beyond our borders, with the disadvantaged.
The crisis has undoubtedly had the merit to show the collective dimension of ethical issues and to remind us that we must all work together. The uncertain financial environment and, in general, the tests require us to put our collective intelligence to build a more harmonious and just.
“Our upcoming projects or efface the past, nor extend the présent.Ils”
In a few days, we commemorate the centennial of the 1911 Constitution. I wanted to surround the celebration of a certain solemnity, but also a certain proximity, so that we remember that the Principality has always built on the union of the prince of Monaco and even in troubled times or difficult. In our country, every generation has always added a stone to those posed by its predecessors, our institutions are in cement. It is in this line that the Principality part, aware of its limitations, but animated by the desire to overcome them. Our future projects or efface the past nor the present. They extend.
1 and 2 July, the population of Monaco and Charlene accompany myself to celebrate our marriage, expressing publicly the union between our dynasty and the people of Monaco, which contemplates the continuity of the Principality.
And will open in the shared joy, a new page in our common history.
Youth in the Principality, whose desire for the future unfolds in a world of investing, I wish them fully done and find, through effort, training and work, the place they aspire to occupy at the heart of society.
To our seniors, to whom we owe much, I express my gratitude, especially for transmission paths they trace for generations to come. I also express to them the hope of health and serenity.
To all those and all those who, in Monaco, by their company, their action or work, realized a project which contributes to the economic and social life of our country, I hope that their forces thrive in this achievement.
To each and everyone of you who live in our country or made an impact abroad, I repeat: “Very Happy New Year 2011”

Monaco Princely Calendar of Engagements for January 2011

Here are some exciting engagements that will happen in Monaco in January.  I know you are thrilled to pieces, right?   🙂

On January 15, 2010, HSH Prince Albert II will attend the XII Archery Cup.

Then on January 19, 2010, Prince Albert will attend the 79th Annual Automobile Rally in Monte-Carlo, Monaco.

From January 26-27, 2010 the Princely family will celebrate the Festival of Saint-Devote.

Finally, there are two important birthdays that will be celebrated:

  1. HRH Princess Caroline of Hanover and HSH Princess of Monaco celebrates her 54th birthday on January 23, 2010.
  2. Miss Charlene Wittstock celebrates her 33rd birthday on January 25, 2010.

A Royal Year: The Top Ten Royal Events of 2010

Right.  Let’s get to it, shall we?   🙂

3.) National Day Monaco

I know, I know… you are wondering why I chose this event ahead of HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark’s pregnancy announcement.  The reason why I decided on this particular event is due to one person.  You got it… Miss Charlene Wittstock.

Since the startling announcement that HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco was engaged to Miss Wittstock it was only a matter of time until we saw her with the rest of the Princely family on the balcony of the Palais Princier de Monaco.  Naturally, it was going to happen.  She is after all Prince Albert’s fiancée.

Miss Wittstock basically stole the show on November 19, 2010, starting with that Eva Peronesque suit she wore during the day.  Let’s not sugarcoat this… she looked ridiculous.   Way too over the top.  Her hat looked like a giant satellite dish, while her skirt was way too tight.  Unfortunately, for her, the skirt flattened her rear-end which, as a result, gave her a massive pancake butt.  The gloves, oh no.  Tsk tsk.  Simply wrong on all levels.

After the church service and balcony wave-a-thon the Princely family of Monaco attended a fancy gala concert.  Everyone looked lovely, including Miss Wittstock (wearing an altered Armani Prive beaded ombre gown.)   HSH Prince Albert II , however, looked like a head waiter at some restaurant in Boca Raton, Florida.

All in all it was a lovely day.

2.) HRH Prince William of Wales announces his engagement to Miss Catherine Middleton.

No one is actually that surprised that HRH Prince William of Wales finally asked his college sweetheart, Miss Catherine Middleton, to marry him.  At least, I’m not.

I don’t know what else to say except… congrats to the couple.

The British royal wedding will take place on April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey, and if you are thinking about traveling to London for the big day… forget it.  It will be a madhouse. First, all hotels within the city are booked.  Solid.  Second, you would probably enjoy watching the wedding on television then being smashed together with screaming and otherwise smelly people only to have a quick two second glance at the new royal couple.

Charlene Wittstock’s Family Spent Christmas in Monaco. Plus More Wedding Information Released

The future Princess of Monaco has been all smiles since the announcement of her engagement to her longtime boyfriend, Prince Albert of Monaco.   And, this week she is even happier.

According to the German magazine, Bild, Miss Wittstock’s family flew in from South Africa to spend Christmas with their daughter and fiancé in the tiny Principality.  Besides her parents attendance, Miss Wittstock’s two brothers, Gareth (who actually moved to Monaco sometime ago) and Sean, were there to celebrated the holidays with their sister.  How long the Wittstock family will be in Monaco is unknown at this time, but I sure hope they have fun.

Meanwhile, more information about the upcoming Princely wedding has been released.   According to the Palais Princier de Monaco:

  1. The wedding will be shot in 3D (why, I have no idea.)
  2. The wedding will be Eco-Friendly éco-compatible including the cars and/or buses that will be used to transport guests.
  3. Revenue, from the networks who bought the rights to air the Princely wedding, will be donated to various foundations in Monaco.
  4. There will be a gala performance at the Monaco Opera.
  5. Lots of booze during the wedding as well pre-wedding gala events.
  6. Fireworks over Monaco (having a fireworks show isn’t exactly Eco-Friendly.  Sounds to me like the Palais Princier de Monaco PR team are freaking confused when it comes down to Environmental issues and crap.  I mean, get it right, people.  Is it or is it not a Eco-Friendly wedding because if it is don’t have a damn fireworks show!)

The magazine, Point de Vue, reports that Miss Wittstock will place her bridal bouquet at the Sainte Dévote church and the state banquet, during pre-wedding events, will be held at the Musée Océanographique.

So there you have it!  You are, once again, up-to-date with information regarding the upcoming Monaco Princely wedding.

HSH Prince Albert and Miss Charlene Wittstock: Ceremony Update

I have absolutely no idea why this is considered “new” information (everyone has known about this for some time), but the American magazine, People, finally decided to announce that the Princely religious wedding in Monaco will happen outdoors.

Uh. Duh.

Any way, for those who don’t know HSH Prince Albert of Monaco changed the wedding date a couple of times.  Then when the date was set he decided to change the religious service venue to the courtyard of the Palais Princier de Monaco.  There will be giant TV screens so Monégasques (and perhaps tourists) may watch the wedding.  The guest list will not be released perhaps at least days until the actual two day event.

People magazine is also reporting that Miss Charlene Wittstock is “… considering  [the House of] Christian Dior or Giorgio Armani.” to design her wedding gown.  My guess, between the two, Miss Wittstock will ask Mr. Armani to design her gown.  Though she may shock us all and decide to wear a gown designed by Karl Lagerfeld.

Royal Debate: Whose Wedding Will Be More Epic?

Yes, that oh-so-important question is heavily debated in the royal watching community these days… it’s almost like watching CNN’s old show, Crossfire.   People bitching and yelling as to whom will be the more stunning bride and other inane issues. Any way, now the magazines are in on the discussion.

Gala Magazine recently featured Miss Catherine Middleton and Miss Charlene Wittstock on their cover; inside there is commentary as to whom will have a more memorable as well as beautiful wedding.  It seems that the writer has already made up his/her mind:  Miss Catherine Middleton will dominate when it comes to the Battle of the Royal Weddings (actually, Monaco is a Principality so the wedding will be Princely not Royal.)

In the December issue of Elle France, there is also an editorial dedicated to Charlene and Catherine.  The whole side-by-side comparison is seriously lame, but hey this type of debate sells magazines, and again… whatever.

I don’t know.  The discussion as to whom will be the more memorable bride and/or which wedding will be more beautiful is rather silly, in my opinion.  I’m just hoping someone will screw up — hence tripping down the aisle, or forgetting their soon-to-be husbands name, or crying like a baby.  You get the picture.  LOL.

Frankly, neither women are that extraordinary.  No, I don’t mean aesthetically; rather both women wasted their lives following their boyfriends all over hell and gone in the hopes of a marriage proposal.  And they got it.

Neither Charlene or Catherine made the most of their education (or lack thereof in Charlene’s case) or lives as strong independent women.  Frankly, I find that quite sad.  It’s incredibly unfortunate that neither Charlene nor Catherine had a career and/or worked hard prior to their soon-to-be structured lives as Princesses.  It’s too bad they didn’t follow in the intelligent footsteps of say Crown Princess Maxima of the Netherlands or Crown Princess Masako of Japan, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, or even Princess Letizia of Asturias.  Instead, in my opinion, Catherine and Charlene were weak women… at the beck and call of their then boyfriends now fiances.

Pathetic.

Okay, enough of my rant.  Sorry.

Right.  So there you have it:  Two major upcoming weddings.  One Royal.  One Princely.  Both will be memorable as well as beautiful in their own unique way.

Monaco Princely Wedding Dates and Information

Well, the dates for the Princely wedding is now firmly set so mark your calendars.  Per the Palais Princier du Monaco:

The civil marriage will take place on Friday 1st July at 17h in the Throne Room at the Palace. It will be celebrated by Mr Philippe Narmino, Director of Judicial Services and Chairman of the State Council.
Mr. Philippe Narmino is indeed the registrar of the Sovereign Family.

The religious wedding will take place Saturday, July 2, in the courtyard of the Palace, at 17h. Monsignor Barsi celebrate mass.

The doors of the palace will remain open to allow about 4,000 people to attend, sitting at the ceremony broadcast on giant screens.

These two days, Friday and Saturday will be holidays.

This should be a lovely day, if the weather holds up, and I must say that I am disappointed that the religious service will not take place at the beautiful Cathedral in Monaco.  Oh well.

It is unknown at this time how many members from reigning royal houses will attend the Monaco Princely wedding; however, it is safe to assume that members of several non-reigning houses will be present including The Duke and Duchess of Castro (they are close friends with the Sovereign Prince and currently live in Monaco.)
