Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands Participates in a Panel Discussion in Washington D.C.

pssmaxima2011On the afternoon of October 11, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development, participated in a panel discussion entitled, Igniting Innovation in Financial Access: Public and Private Approaches for Greater Access by 2020, held at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington D.C.

Today’s panel discussion focused on “…how broader financial inclusion can be achieved through the use of multi-stakeholder partnerships and technology to enable business model innovation…” according to the official website for the World Bank.

His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands in Maastricht. (VIDEOS)

TheKingWAOn Friday, October 11, 2013, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands opened the United World College Maastricht’s (UWCM) new campus.

According to the official website for UWCM the school:

“…is the youngest of the twelve UWC schools and colleges and unique in the movement as the only state-supported whole school, educating children from pre-school through high school. Our diverse student body boasts representation from over 90 countries and territories including 120 residential students who are selected by UWC national committees around the world to complete their final two years of high school with us.”

Her Royal Highness Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands Visits a School in Den Haag.

LaurentienOn October 10, 2013, Her Royal Highness Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands arrived at the Paradijsvogel school in Den Haag to celebrate National Sustainability Day.

During her visit the lovely princess read several books “…to the students of the school which thematised sustainability and happiness…” according to Corbis.

HRH Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands Attends the Opening of a New Exhibition at the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden.

Queen Beatrix 2012On October 8, 2013, Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands along with Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan of Jordan visited the special exhibition, Petra: Wonder in de Woestijn, at the Rijksmuseum van Ouheden in Leiden.

According to the official website for the Rijksmuseum van Ouheden the exhibition displays:

“…150 archaeological and architectonic highlights from Petra, showing you the most stunning locations in the city. The exhibition’s displays exude the atmosphere of the awe-inspiring ruins and the desert to introduce visitors to the Nabataeans and their architecture, culture, art and religion. Never before have so many objects from Petra been on display in The Netherlands.”

Royals From Sweden, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands Attend the IPC Honorary Board Meeting in Brussels.

Crown Princess Victoria of SwedenOn October 8, 2013, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Her Royal Highness Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg,  Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet of the Netherlands, and Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium, as host, attended International Paralympic Committee Honorary Board meeting held at the Palais Royal in Brussels.

According to the official website for the IPC, the royal ladies and other attendees were:

“…updated on the growth of the Paralympic Movement over the last two years and received further insight into the activities that surrounded the London 2012 Paralympic Games, as well those for future Paralympics.

Members were [also] informed about the IPC’s vision in the lead-up to the Sochi 2014 and Rio 2016 Games, as well as the Agitos Foundation, which is the IPC’s new development arm.”

His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands Visits Gluren bij de Buren. (VIDEOS)

WAOn October 8, 2013, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands arrived in Oosterwolde to visit the initiative, Gluren bij de Buren.  According to RVD Gluren bij de Buren is:

“…a collaboration between a nursing home and the school next door.  The residents of the nursing home and the students from the school would come together each day to participate in joint activities. These activities would take place in the nursing home, the school, and the adjacent vegetable garden and greenhouse.

In May 2013, Gluren bij de Buren won the Grote Appeltje van Oranje of the Oranje Fonds.”
