On the evening of Friday, March 21, 2014, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands arrived in lovely Baden-Baden, Germany to receive the 2013 Deutschen Medienpreises (German Media Prize).
According to RVD, Her Majesty received the award for her “…efforts as the United Nations Secretary General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA).”
On Friday, March 21, 2014, members of the Dutch royal family participated in the 2014 NL Doet, national volunteer day organized by the Oranje Fonds.
According to RVD, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands “…volunteered by painting a barn and placing new fencing poles.”
Meanwhile, Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet of the Netherlands, and Her Royal Highness Princess Marilène of Oranje-Nassau “…volunteered at the IVN in Zeewolde…” according to the photo news agency, PPE.
On Wednesday, March 19, 2014, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet of the Netherlands held an audience at Paleis Noordeinde with Dutch athletes who participated in the 2014 Sochi Paralympic Winter Olympic Games.
On the morning of Tuesday, March 18, 2014, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands arrived at Tilburg University to attend a meeting on Social Innovation.
Thereafter, Her Majesty arrived at the Het Laar elderly center in Tilburg to visit the project, Prins Heerlijk, according to the photo news agency, PPE.
On March 13, 2014, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands officially opened the new Rotterdam Centraal (Rotterdam Central Station).
According to RVD, the new central station is:
“…the first in a series of new and larger stations in the Netherlands, which are part of the largest railway station and innovation since the creation of the Dutch railways, 175 years ago.
The new station is more spacious, which is enhanced by a large glass window with direct views of the city. The roof above the tracks is made of glass. The station has a walkway that connects the 16 tracks and a new passenger passage of almost 50 meters wide.”
On March 11, 2014, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands visited the Avoord Zorg en Wonen (Care and Housing center) in Etten-Leur. According to RVD, the Avoord provides a “…wide spectrum of nursing, care and welfare for people who can no longer live independently…”
On Monday, March 10, 2014, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands arrived at the Nederlands Instituut voor Beeld en Geluid in Hilversum to officially open the 4th Edition of Nationale Week van het Geld.
According to RVD, Nationale Week van het Geld teaches the “…youth how to handle and save money…”
