On Monday, September 23, 2013, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Rothesay accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Sonja of Norway arrived in Aberdeen, Scotland to inaugurate Maggie’s Aberdeen, a Cancer support and care center at the Elizabeth Montgomerie Building.
The new £3 million building, adjacent to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary was designed by the Norwegian architecture firm, Snøhetta, in collaboration with the Scottish architecture firm, Halliday Fraser Munro, according to the official website for Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre.
On Sunday, September 22, 2013, Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex arrived in lovely Doha, Qatar with the ORBIS charity to “…raise awareness about the prevention and treatment of blindness which affects some 1.5 million children around the world…” according to the Gulf Times.
After touching down at Doha International Airport the countess met with the Prime Minister of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani. In the evening, the countess attended a charity gala dinner at Katara Hall.

On Monday, September 16, 2013, His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex arrived on the island of Jersey to begin his two-day visit.
Yesterday, the youngest child of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh presided over a ceremony where he presented “…four young islanders with the gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award…” according to Channel Online TV.
Today, The Earl of Wessex attended a ceremony in celebration of the 350th anniversary of the presentation of the Royal Mace.

In preparation for his upcoming South Pole trek with the Walking With the Wounded charity later this year, His Royal Highness Prince Harry of Wales spent “…20 hours in [a] cold chamber (freezer) at Mira in Nuneaton…where temperatures dropped as low as minus 55c with wind chill…” according to Clarence House.

On the evening of September 12, 2013, Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived at the Royal Society in London to attend the 2013 Tusk Conservation Awards.
According to the official website for the Tusk Conservation Award tonight’s event:
“…aim[s] to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievement in the field of African conservation. From practical field conservation to successful environmental education, the Tusk Conservation Awards recognize the achievements of individuals who are ensuring the future of Africa and bringing the challenges faced by the continent to a global audience.
Two awards were presented [this evening] by The Duke of Cambridge:
The Prince William Award for Conservation in Africa: A lifetime achievement award, which recognize outstanding dedication and exceptional contribution to conservation in Africa. The recipient of this award will be announced and presented with a specially commissioned trophy by The Duke. This award is sponsored by Investec Asset Management.
The Tusk Award for Conservation in Africa:This award is for an individual who has been judged to be emerging as a leading conservationist and in recognition of their outstanding contribution to conservation and considerable success shown in their chosen field.”
