On Tuesday, July 10, 2012, Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall visited Brecon. Per the official website for the Prince of Wales:
The historic Mid Wales town is the first stop for the Prince and the Duchess on the second day of their annual summer visit to the principality.
As the couple arrived to attend a Thanksgiving Service at the Brecon Cathedral, pupils from the nearby Priory School gave them an enthusiastic welcome and The Duchess accepted a bouquet.
Once the Prince and the Duchess were inside, the Thanksgiving Service got under way marking the successful conclusion of a decade of fundraising for the cathedral choir, hitting the £1 million mark.
The Royal couple then visited the Brecon Small Picture Show held in a small annex off the cathedral’s main hall.
The Prince and the Duchess then separated and carried out individual visits of their own.
The Duchess visited Ysgol Penmaes, a school for children with severe learning difficulties. The Duchess also visited Golwg y Camlas, a respite unit run by social services adjacent to the school.
Later, the Duchess met a number of parents and governors at the school and was entertained by a choir of pupils who sang Bread of Heaven and Delilah. Before leaving she unveiled the school’s specially commissioned new jubilee stained glass window.
She then met local people and volunteers connected with the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II mets French President Francois Hollande
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh welcomed the Olympic Torch flame at Windsor Castle on July 10, 2012. According to the Associated Press, Her Majesty watched as “… torch-bearer Gina Macgregor held the [flame] torch…” then watched it pass to the next torch-bearer, Mr. Phil Wells.
Also this afternoon Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II held a “30 minute private meeting” with new French President, Francois Hollande, at Windsor Castle.

On July 9, 2012, Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall began their four-day tour of Wales.
According to the official website for the Prince of Wales, the royal couple celebrated “…St. Asaph’s new City status by attending a Service of Thanksgiving…” From there they were at St. Asaph Cathedral where they “…met representatives from various community groups and local businesses…”
Afterward, the prince and the duchess opened the Bodnant Welsh Food Centre where they mingled with “… traders, cookery school students, craftsmen, and visitors…”
Soon, the Prince of Wales was at RAF Valley in Anglesey where he met the Duke of Cambridge as well as the “…Station Commander and Search and Rescue crews…” Also on today’s agenda, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were at the:
… Ceredigion council offices in Aberystwyth where they met residents affected by the recent flooding in Ceredigion and members of the emergency services involved in the rescue operations.

On July 7, 2012, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco attended an evening concert entitled, Summer Dream, “… held for the benefit of the Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco…” at the Palais Princier. Guests listened to violinist, Mr. Maxim Vengerov, the Dee Dee Bridgewater Quintet, pianist Ms. Shani Diluka and more. Afterward, there was a lovely cocktail party.
And, finally, this afternoon Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge attended Wimbledon alongside her sister, Ms. Pippa Middleton. Other royal guests included Their Royal Highnesses Prince Michael of Kent and his wife, Princess Michael.

On July 6, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh arrived in Perth, Scotland as part of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
During their tour, Her Majesty and the duke visited the Black Watch Castle and Museum, visited Perth College at the University of the Highlands and Islands, attended a luncheon at Scone Palace, and received “… keys to the city at the Viewpoint overlooking the River Tay.”

Rare and endangered stream frogs from Ecuador has been named in honor of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales on July 5, 2012. And, the name is: Hyloscirtus Princecharlesi “… in recognition of the Prince of Wales’s…” environmental conservation efforts.
