On the morning of January 15, 2013, Their Majesties King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium along with Their Royal Highnesses Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde hosted a New Year reception at the Palais de Bruxelles for “… permanent Representatives and Heads of Mission to the North Atlantic Council, Members of the International Secretariat and the Military Representatives to NATO and General Officers SHAPE.”
Meanwhile, Her Royal Highness Princess Claire attended the inauguration of Etterbeek, “…a housing unit for low income families in Brussels.”
New Photos Released of Her Royal Highness Princess Mathilde of Belgium on the Occasion of Her 40th Birthday.
On Monday, January 14, 2013, the Belgian royal court released five new photos of Her Royal Highness Princess Mathilde of Belgium on the occasion of her 40th birthday.
The beautiful images were recently shot by Belgian photographer, Mr. Michel Gronemberger. On his website Mr. Gronemberger notes that he did not use Photoshop that gave the princess a flawless look; instead he used a special lighting technique which he explains is “… very difficult to master.” Mr. Gronemberger also noted that he wanted to photograph the princess in a very “…classic, feminine style and unadorned… [I wanted] to show the elegance of a woman, who, in addition, is the Princess of Belgium… ”

The Belgian Government Agrees to Cut Queen Fabiola of Belgium’s Allowance.
Unfortunately, it seems that things are getting worse for Queen Fabiola of Belgium. Over the weekend the Belgian government agreed to “…cut the queen’s allowance by over 498,000 Euros… effective immediately…”

Queen Fabiola of Belgium Under Fire.
“The Belgian government has criticized Queen Fabiola over her inheritance plans, which have been widely viewed by the people and government of Belgium as a tax dodge on a fortune amassed with taxpayer money.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo told parliament ‘shared’ the emotions the scandal had caused.”

His Royal Highness Prince Philippe of Belgium attended the opening of the 91st Edition of the Salon de l’Automobile de Bruxelles held at the Brussels Expo on January 10, 2013.
Guests attending today’s event included former cycling champion, Mr. Eddy Mercx, the Minister of Budget, Mr.Guy Vanhengel and the Mayor of Brussels, Mr. Freddy Thielemans, to name a few.
Salon de l’Automobile de Bruxelles will be open to the public beginning on January 11 and will end on January 20, 2013.

Their Majesties King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium along with Their Royal Highnesses Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde hosted a New Year reception at the Palais de Bruxelles on January 9, 2013. Guests included members of the diplomatic corps, Archbishop Giacinto Berloco as well as several Belgian government officials.
