On Monday, January 18, 2016, His Holiness Pope Francis held an audience with Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco inside the Apostolic Palace at the Vatican.
During this morning’s brief meeting discussions focused on bilateral relations, environmental issues, the reception of refugees from the Middle East into Europe, and the historical ties as well as contributions of the Catholic Church in the daily lives within the Principality of Monaco.
On the afternoon of Thursday, January 14, 2016, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium hosted a reception at the Palais Royal in Brussels for members of NATO and SHAPE.
On the afternoon of Tuesday, January 12, 2016, Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of Belgium met with Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan at the Palais Royal in Brussels.
The purpose of the Her Majesty Queen Rania’s visit was to discuss the Syrian crisis as well as mobilizing international support for Jordan’s education system.
In a statement released by Her Majesty Queen Rania’s press office today’s meeting specifically focused on:
“…showcasing the struggles Jordanian citizens face in cities that are densely populated by Syrians. She highlighted the impact the crisis has had on Jordan’s resources, infrastructure, and especially schools, which have enrolled 150,000 Syrian students. This has affected the quality of education at schools that have been forced to run double shifts, with teachers under pressure to handle larger numbers of students in each class.
Her Majesty’s meetings are part of Jordan’s extensive efforts at all levels, ahead of the Syria’s Donor Conference in London on February 4 where, education will be a key theme.”

On Monday, January 11, 2016, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark arrived at the Hotel d’Angleterre in Copenhagen to participate in the distribution of the Hjerteforeningens (Hear Association’s) research grants.
On the morning of January 12, 2016, Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain, as Honorary President, participated in a meeting with members of the Fundación de Ayuda contra la Drogadicción (FAD) in Madrid, Spain.
On the morning of Friday, January 8, 2016, Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain held an audience with representatives from the Fundación Secretariado Gitano at Palacio de La Zarzuela in Madrid.
Thereafter, Her Majesty met with members of the Junta Directiva de la Plataforma de Organizaciones de Infancia de España.
