On Wednesday, January 22, 2014, Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain held an audience with the President of Colombia, Mr. Juan Manuel Santos Calderón, and his wife, First Lady María Clemencia Rodríguez Múnera, at Palacio de la Zarzuela in Madrid.
On January 22, 2014, Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex officially opened the new Livity School building in Steatham, London. According to the official website for Livity the school is:
“…for children with complex needs which was created in September 2001 as part of Lambeth’s Special Needs Strategy. ‘Livity’ is a new word which essentially means ‘Living Life Positively.
The school aims to help all pupils to build self-esteem and confidence thus promoting their maximum achievement. This will enable them to gain the skills necessary to learn and to develop their full potential in all areas of the curriculum.”
On January 22, 2014, Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias attended the opening of the 34th Edition of the Feria Internacional de Turismo (FITUR) at the Parque Ferial Juan Carlos I in Madrid.
The FITUR is a “…global meeting point for tourism professionals and the leading trade fair for inbound and outbound Ibero-American markets.”
On Wednesday, January 22, 2014, Her Royal Highness Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands arrived at the Basisschool De Horizon in Delft to participate in Nationale Voorleesdagen (National Reading Day).
On Tuesday, January 21, 2014, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium arrived Davos, Switzerland, to attend the 44th Edition of the World Economic Forum.
Yesterday, Their Majesties attended the WEF’s Crystal Awards ceremony which “…honors artists whose important contributions are improving the state of the world.”
This morning Their Majesties arrived at the Berufsfachschule Davos where they visited Refugee Run a:
“…powerful simulation to experience refugees’ daily struggle for survival, hosted by the Crossroads Foundation, and designed by refugees, internally displaced persons and NGOs. After the simulation, refugees, field workers and others will discuss the options for engagement with participants, with a special focus on Syria.”

On Wednesday, January 22, 2014, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands arrived at the Koninklijke Nederlandse Munt in Utrecht to attend the ceremonial minting of the new Dutch Euro coins.
According to RVD, the “…design of the new euro coins was made by the Dutch photographer Erwin Olaf. On January 23 the new coins will be put into circulation in the Dutch payment services…”

Recently, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco visited the Institut Historique Allemand (aka Deutsches Historisches Institut) in Paris to participate in a symposium “…on the defenders of peace for the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the First World War and which also honored the late Prince Albert I of Monaco…”
During the symposium the sovereign prince spoke about his late great-grandfather “…a scientist, humanist, and a pacifist who created the Institut International de la Paix in Monaco…”
