Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall Visit the Isles of Scilly

On July 3, 2012, Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall visited the Isles of Scilly.  According to the official website for the Prince of Wales, the royal couple began their day with the opening of the Five Islands School:

… a year after The Queen unveiled a plaque to mark the opening of the new sports hall on the site.  Their Royal Highnesses were escorted around the new building, visiting both primary and secondary classrooms, by the acting headteacher Liz Duffy-Griffiths.

The school – the only secondary on the Isles of Scilly – has more than 250 students, providing education for the communities of St Mary’s, Bryher, St Agnes, St Martin’s and Tresco.

Duchess of Cornwall also visited the “… Isles of Scilly Veterinary Support Group (IOSVSG)  formed in 2007 by a group of volunteers committed to raising money for better equipment and surgery facilities.”

Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain Visits the Philippines: Day 2-3 (VIDEOS)

On July 3, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain continued her official visit to the Philippines.

The day began with Her Majesty visiting the Escuela Taller Technical School funded by the Agencia Española de Cooperacion Internacional para el Desarollo (AECID).  Afterward, the  queen visited the National Library and National Museum in Manila, and much more.

In the evening, President Benigno S. Aquino III hosted a gala dinner at Malacañang Palace in her honor.  Guests included government officials as well as local VIPs.  During the dinner, Her Majesty Queen Sofia gave a speech in which she:

… expressed her government’s desire to ‘reintroduce and reintegrate’ the Spanish language in the Philippine educational curriculum.

‘I wish to emphasize the support we gave to the educational sector and particularly the efforts of the Department of Education for successfully making into reality the reintroduction of Spanish language in the public educational system…’

This afternoon, July 4, Her Majesty and her delegation visited Camalig North Central School and the Camalig Evacuation Center for Natural Disasters (also funded by the Agencia Española de Cooperacion Internacional para el Desarollo (AECID) in Legaspi City.

Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco Attends the Opening of the New Louis Vuitton Jewelry Boutique (VIDEO)

On July 3, 2012, Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco attended the opening of the new Louis Vuitton boutique located on the place Vendôme in Paris.

In a press release, Louis Vuitton CEO, Mr. Yves Carcelle, stated:

We are pleased to open our first store dedicated to jewelry and watches… and feel great pride in the idea of opening our first shop in the historic cradle of the expertise of senior jewelry…

Jewels and watches for sale start at 650 Euros for small earrings to 9 million Euros for a 30 carat solitaire diamond ring.

Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain Visits the Philippines: Day One

On July 2, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila, Philippines to begin her week-long visit to the country.  The purpose of the visit is to strengthen ties as well as friendship between Spain and the Philippines.

Upon her arrival Her Majesty was greeted by the Spanish Ambassador, Mr. Jorge Domecq, Foreign Affairs Secretary, Mr. Albert del Rosario, and the Minister of Social Welfare and Development, Mr. Juliano Soliman.

According to the newspaper, Philippine Star, during her visit Her Majesty will:

… inspect several development projects around the country that the Spanish government is funding through the Agencia Española de Cooperacion Internacional para el Desarollo (AECID).

Visit the National Library, National Museum, the University of Santo Tomas, meet with Spanish residents living in the Philippines, attend a reception at the Spanish Embassy and meet with President Aquino who will host a banquet in her honor.

Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex Attends the Royal Horticultural Society Flower Show in Surrey. Plus, Other News.

Her Royal Highness the Countess of Wessex was at Hampton Court Palace in Surrey on July 2, 2012, to attend the Royal Horticultural Society Flower Show according to the official website for the British monarchy.  Whilst there she admired beautiful flowers, plants and mingled with various guests.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh Visit Scotland: Day One (VIDEOS)

On July 2, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh began their visit to Scotland as part of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

The day began with Her Majesty attending the 2012 Ceremony of the Keys held at Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh.  Afterward, Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh “… officially re-opened the Scottish National Portrait Gallery…” where they viewed various items on display and signed the guest book.

Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall Visit Cornwall

On July 2, 2012, Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall began their visit to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly as part of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

This afternoon, the royal couple officially opened the “… £35 million community-led regeneration project in one of the most impoverished parts of Cornwall” known as the Heartlands Community Regeneration Project.

The royal couple also had a chance to visit a local food market in the Heartlands.  Whilst there the Prince of Wales:

… stopped for a taste of pie and a pint of Betty Stogs ale – produced by Skinners Brewery in Truro – and expressed his love of locally produced food-stuff.  [While] The Duchess bought a couple of treats from the market, including five shortbread teddy bears for her grandchildren and a cushion.

Tomorrow, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will visit the Isles of Scilly where they will open a new school, attend meeting with the Isles of Scilly Local Action Group, open the new Bryher Shop and Post Office, and much more.
