On Friday, April 6, 2012, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco was at the Monte-Carlo Country Club to attend the Davis Cup match between Ryan Harrison and Jo-Wilfred Tsonga. The sovereign prince also met with the quarter-final Davis Cup teams as well as the President of the FFT, Mr. Jean Gachassin, and team captains, Mr. Guy Forget and Mr. Jim Courier.
Meanwhile, the Hollywood Reporter claims that actress Nicole Kidman is in “talks” to play the late Princess Grace in Olivier Dahan’s upcoming movie, Grace of Monaco. The script, written by Arash Amel, apparently is not a:
… biopic and instead focuses on a six-month period in 1962 when the city-state got into a heated dispute with France, which grew tired of the petite principality being a tax haven. Kelly, still relatively new in her role as princess, maneuvered behind the scenes to save Monaco from a coup.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, again, the film is being compared to “…the tone of the King’s Speech.” Great. But, Nicole Kidman as the amazing late Princess Grace of Monaco?!
I don’t think so.
FAIL!

So disappointed in the Nicole Kidman choice. 😦
You and me both. Nicole is too old and plastic looking to play the late princess.
Charlize Theron, who is a brilliant actress, would have been a better choice than Nicole.
Hi Alexandra,
Just an opinion, I think Rosamund Pike would play the role of Princess Grace better. She resembles the late Princess.
I agree. Like others have said, my first choice would have been Rosamund Pike. Followed by Charlize. I also think Diane Kruger has the look and the demeanor, but she’s a little on the cold side.
At least Nicole is a good actress and she can do accents rather well. She’s just about 10 years too late. 😦
Prince Albert’s cousin, and president of Monaco’s Tennis Association & Country Club, Elisabeth-Anne de Massy was there as well.
I think Nicole Kidman would do a better job than the rumored Jessica Chastain, Emily Blunt, Olivia Wilde, Michelle Monaghan’ and Jessica Biel, who were also reportedly considered.
But I concur with you, the best choice would be Charlzie Theron. Irronic that she is also from Zimbabwe like Prince Albert’s wife, no? 😉
such a disappointment. I was hoping Gwyneth Paltrow or Charlize Theron would play the part.
Rosamund Pike is another actress who would have done a great job. 🙂
Marcia, from what I have read Charlize was born and raised in Benoni, South Africa not Zimbabwe. 🙂 Or, is that a mistake on her IMDB bio?
Suggestion for all those who don’t like the choice of Ms. Kidman in the role of Princess Grace Kelly: why don’t you all chip in to raise the $15 million funding needed for this film project. Then you can dictate who you want to be in the lead.
That is a brilliant idea, Serena, thanks!!!
Agreed! ;D
