Prince Henrik of DenmarkOn November 11, 2014, His Royal Highness Prince Henrik of Denmark arrived at the Assistens Kirkegård (Assistens Cemetery) in Copenhagen to attend a wreath laying ceremony at “…the French soldiers’ graves on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of World War I…” according to the Danish royal court.

His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium Attends a Solemn Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. (VIDEOS)

On Tuesday, November 11, 2014, His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium attended a solemn ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider at the Colonne du Congrès in Brussels on the occasion of Remembrance Day.

Remembrance Day commemorates the ending of World War I and the ceasefire that went into effect in 1918 as Germany signed an armistice agreement with the Allies.  Today’s ceremony also commemorates the victims of World War II and of the humanitarian and peace operations after 1945 according to AFP News.

Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan Celebrates the 5th anniversary of the Queen Rania Teacher Academy. (VIDEO)

On Monday, November 10, 2014, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan celebrated the 5th anniversary of the Queen Rania Teacher Academy (QRTA) in Amman.

According to Petra News, during today’s visit Her Majesty “…praised the efforts of the QRTA’s and added that she considers teacher training a priority as teachers are the most important pillar of the educational system.  [She] also expressed her hope that parents would witness the positive impact teacher training has had on their children’s performance in the classroom…”

MM&HOn Monday, November 10, 2014, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway visited the headquarters of TOMRA in Asker as well as the company’s production facility in Lier, Norway.  According to the official website for TOMRA, the company is an:

“…advanced automated recycling sorting systems for various waste and metal material streams deliver clear commercial, legislative and environmental benefits. The sensor-based sorting systems recover clean material fractions, delivering significantly higher yields and increased value from the input material than with traditional separation methods such as dense media separation or manual sorting.”

Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain Attend a Memorial Service in Bullas, Spain. (VIDEO)

On Monday, November 10, 2014, Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain arrived at the Juan Valera Pavillion in Bullas, Spain, to attend a memorial service for the victims of Sunday’s bus accident.

According to AFP News, fourteen people died “…after their bus fell 15 meters from the Calasparra Road.  The travelers were returning from Madrid to the Murcian town of Bullas after attending a religious ceremony at the Convent of the Barefoot Carmelites.”

Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands Attend a Commemoration Ceremony in Amsterdam. (VIDEO)

On November 10, 2014, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven attended the Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 (MH17) commemoration ceremony held at the RAI in Amsterdam.

Last July, MH17 was shot down by rebels over eastern Ukraine near the Russian border killing 298 innocent people.

Their Imperial Highnesses Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako of Japan Attend the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development. (VIDEOS)

On Monday, November 10, 2014, Their Imperial Highnesses Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako of Japan attended the opening ceremony of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development in Nagoya in the Aichi Prefecture, Japan.  The theme of this year’s three-day conference, Learning Today for a Sustainable Future.

During today’s opening ceremony Crown Prince Naruhito gave a speech in which he noted:

“On our earth today, along with economic growth and increasing populations, we are also witnessing the advancing change of climate, loss of biodiversity, depletion of natural resources, increases in poverty and other problems.  For our children and theirs, we have three important tasks: protecting the Earth’s environment, which is the wellspring for ensuring lives abundant with blessings, treasuring the Earth’s limited resources, and achieving sustainable development.”
