H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco Nominated for the World Open Water Swimming Woman of the Year (VIDEO)

It was recently announced that H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco  was nominated for the World Open Water Swimming Woman of the Year.

Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene provides unbelievably outstanding support of the sport of open water swimming from her new position as the Princess of Monaco.   A former Olympic pool swimmer, the Princess did the Midmar Mile and became interested in doing more.  She is truly genuine, clearly charismatic and a major player in raising awareness and funds to support open water swimming, especially for Special Olympics athletes.  In myriad public and private ways, the Princess understands the global potential for doing good and instigating positive change in the world, especially when royalty, sports and causes intersect.  For her efforts to promote acceptance and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities and support of open water swimmers involved in the Special Olympics International movement, Her Royal Highness Charlene Wittstock is a worthy nominee for the 2011 World Open Water Swimming Woman of the Year.
