The Duke and Duchess Attend the BAFTA ‘Brits to Watch’ Gala Here in L.A.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the BAFTA ‘Brits to Watch’ gala on July 9, 2011 at the Belasco Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.  Of course, in typical L.A. fashion every major Hollywood producer, director, studio head, publicist, second assistant A.D., craft services supervisor, actor, and actress where there to support (actually, let’s be honest here… they just want to be seen) this BAFTA event as well as to pose on the red carpet as if the were  attending the Oscars.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in L.A.!

Well, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are finally here in Los Angeles and most Angelenos just don’t care (we have other things on our mind like the closure of the 405 Fwy next week, TSOL playing at the Brixton, and other stuff.)   🙂

Anyway, the couple touched down at LAX with throngs of journalists and photographers watching their every move.  Once the couple’s royal feet touched the pavement they were greeted by California Governor, Jerry Brown, L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the British ambassador and consul general and other dignitaries.

Soon, the Duke and Duchess hopped into their black and not so environmentally friendly Land Rover and were then whizzed through the side streets of L.A. via a LAPD police escort (who stopped all traffic annoying everyone in their cars) thus avoiding the 405 Fwy.  Finally, the royal duo arrived at the Beverly Hilton Hotel to attend a conference.

With that… Welcome to L.A., Wills and Kate!  Glad to have you here!   🙂

No.  Those are not my hands, in case you were wondering.

The British Royal Family: The Order of the Garter at Windsor Castle

On June 13, 2011, the British royal family attended, and some participated in, the most ancient and noblest of all Orders of Chivalry… the Order of the Garter.  Garter Day, as it is called, began eons in 1348 by King Edward III to be exact.  What makes the Order of the Garter so special is that it is the sovereign who appoints the order.  Meaning it is his/her personal decision; not by a collective group.  In the end, it’s a huge honor to those who receive it.

Anyway, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh, The Earl of Wessex, The Duke of York, and the awesome Princess Royal, got all dressed up in the ancient robes and orders as they, along with the Military Knights ahead of them, slowly walked from Windsor Castle to St. George’s Chapel.

Meanwhile, The Duchess of Cornwall and the Duchess of Cambridge looked on with much amusement and happiness.
