HRH Prince William of Wales and Miss Catherine Middleton Attend a Christmas Gala Together.

On December 18, 2010, HRH Prince William and his fiancee, Catherine Middleton stepped out together for the second time since the announcement of their engagement.

The couple were in Thursford, England to attend the Thursford Christmas Spectacular Gala.  The event was a fundraiser for young people with Cancer.  During the gala singers and dancers performed to the delight of the future King and Queen of England.

Miss Middleton wore a black and white dress with her trademark blazer.  Prince William wore a navy suit and red tie.  The couple seemed to be happy; however it is evident that Miss Middleton was overwhelmed with the attention.  Better get used to it, toots.  It will only get worse.

Who Will Design Catherine Middleton’s Wedding Dress?

That is the big question these days.  Designers from around the world have submitted their sketches to the future Queen of England and they have also submitted their work to WWD.

Here are some ideas from the world’s most famous fashion designers.

Karl Lagerfeld believes she should look like a Victorian princess… high boots and all.  He must be on crack or something because this gown is awful!

Monique Lhuillier believes the gown should be “…a modern mix of the traditional and contemporary.”

For designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli for the House of Valentino, they believe Catherine should wear, “…a ‘blossoming’ dress because we imagined her as a new Botticellian Venus.”

For Tom Mora he believes, “…hat there will be so many comparisons to the late Princess Diana that her dress should almost be the opposite of what Diana’s was — modern, simple and very elegant.”

Alberta Ferretti notes, “In Kate I see the natural, radiant and self-confident attitude of today’s girls. For this, I can’t help but think of an embroidered, fluid-silhouette dress in precious fabrics that will help her make an everlasting impression.”

For Frida Giannini for the House of Gucci she notes that, “…the balance Kate Middleton strikes between elegant and contemporary with her unmistakable style. For her, I had in mind clean lines, soft shapes and classic touches such as the boat neckline and distinctive train.”

Yigal Azrouël wants Catherine too look, “…sophisticated, but also a modern-day wedding gown for a young princess. Its elongated silhouette combined with the lace and draping of the skirt is glamorous and elegant, while the neckline and bodice remain modern.
Kimberly Ovitz really didn’t care about her design nor Catherine.  She just scribbled something on a piece of paper and said, “Modern.”  Put a lot of thought into that, eh Kim?

I think Catherine would look amazing in this gown!!  Hello Kitty Wedding dress FTW!!!

In all seriousness, Catherine Middleton will most likely hire a British designer, and many believe the designer will be Bruce Oldfield from London.

Royal Wedding Update: Double Duty for Austria’s No Problem Orchestra

An Austrian band will be quite busy in 2011.  Why?  The orchestra known as No Problem Orchestra will be performing at both the Royal wedding in Britain as well as Princely wedding in Monaco next year.

The eight member world renowned group, consisting of mentally disabled musicians, were asked to play for both weddings and of course they said, YES!  I mean… who wouldn’t, right?

According to the Austrian Times:

The extraordinary band, who have played gigs in the United States and across Europe, gave a private concert to Queen Elizabeth II at Highgrove House in the British county of Gloucestershire eight years ago. Also in 2002, the No Problem Orchestra performed in Monte Carlo for the first time.

The British royal wedding will take place on April 29, 2011 at Westminister Abbey while the Princely wedding will take place on July 2 and 3 2011.  The venue for the Monaco wedding will be held outside in the Palais du Monaco courtyard.

British Royal Wedding Souvenirs… Not Going To Happen

… at least not tea towels with Prince William and Catherine Middleton’s face on them.  Why?  They were banned by the Palace.  Makes sense to me, I mean, royal tea towels are tacky to say the least.

Andy Bloxham, from The Telegraph newspaper in Britain, noted:

The Lord Chamberlain, Earl Peel, who is the senior official in the Royal household, has issued a formal memorandum stating any official photographs of the couple can only be used on items would be considered appropriate.

So there you have it… sorry tea towel lovers… you’re out of luck this time around.  Of course, you could always make your own tea towels by purchasing plain white tea towels at Wal-Mart.  Then, purchase colored markers and draw the happy couple’s faces on them and … VOILA!  Your own personal crappy tea towels!
