On Sunday, March 30, 2014, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium welcomed the President of China, Mr. Xi Jinping, and First Lady Xi Peng Liyuan, to Belgium. The purpose of President Jinping’s three-day state visit is to strengthen bilateral and economic ties between Belgium and China.

After the official welcoming ceremony, Their Majesties along with President Jinping and First Lady Xi Peng Liyuan arrived at the Palais de Bruxelles to pose for official photos for the press. His Majesty also presented the Order of Leopold to President Jinping during yesterday’s photo-op.

Thereafter, Their Majesties and President Jinping visited Pairi Daiza Zoo and Botanical Garden in Brugelette.

This morning, Her Majesty Queen Mathilde and First Lady Xi Peng Liyuan visited the Musée des Instruments de Musique in Brussels while President Jinping visited the European Union headquarters.
