H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco Attends the 22nd Annual Sportel Convention

On October 10, 2011, H.S.H. Prince Albert II officially opened the 22nd annual Sportel Convention at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte-Carlo.

Organized by Mediax Monaco, Sportel — the international sports program market for television and new media — is one of the largest gatherings of “...high level media executives coming together from all over the world to network at the most important sports media market on the sports calendar…”  and this year over 2,000+ participants will attend.

During this year’s convention there will be speaking engagements from Ben Gallop, Head of BBC Sport Interactive, Ellen Rian, Executive Editor, NRK Sport New Media to name a few.  There will also be sporting demonstrations, prizes handed out to the best illustrated sports book, and much more.  On the final day of Sportel the famous Golden Podium Awards will be handed out with H.S.H. Prince Albert II in attendance.

Blauw Bloed: Royal Video News

H.M. Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands News

On Saturday October 8, 2011, Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands was at the Grote Sint Laurenskerk in Alkmaar to attend the reveal the newly restored painting of Jacob Cornelisz van Oostsanen’s, The Last Judgement.

Known as the “Michelangelo of the North” van Oostsanen’s painting dates back to 1518 and is one of the largest in the Netherlands.  It took eight years to complete the restoration by various conservators.

Any way, the queen along with 700 guests were inside the church to witness this grand event and after pressing a button a large white cloth fell to the floor revealing the painting in all its glory.

H.S.H. Prince Albert II Attends an Awards Ceremony

Last evening H.S.H. Prince Albert II attended the Foundation Prince Albert II de Monaco Awards ceremony held at the Grimaldi Forum.  The prince presented several prominent personalities for their exemplary actions in favor of the environment and saving the planet in the areas of preserving biodiversity, access to water, and to fight against desertification.

Here are the winners:

  • Gretchen Daily (USA), Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Stanford University, divides his time between scientific research, education, public information, and work with leaders from all walks to advance practical approaches to address environmental Defies. His scientific research focused on the future dynamics of changes in biodiversity. Professor Daily chaired the project “Natural Capital” whose purpose is to support economic incentives to help conservation. This project is developed in various sites around the world where biodiversity is threatened (China, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Tanzania and the United States).
  • Andreas Szollosi-Nagy (Hungary) President of the UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education Water, has been instrumental in reforming the teaching of multidisciplinary water resources for the benefit of developing countries. Over the past 17 years, as Governor of the World Water Council, he was instrumental in drawing attention to the issue of water in the world and educate both the general public and policy makers on the subject.
  • David Suzuki (Canada) doctor and president of the David Suzuki Foundation, is a scientist and a renowned environmentalist.World-renowned geneticist, he received numerous awards for its work. His career as a creator and facilitator of programs and films of award-winning popular science earned him constant praise for thirty years.

Frederic Prinz von Anhalt, “I’m Going to be the Mayor of Los Angeles!!!”

It’s been a rough year so far for the faux prince Frederic von Anhalt.  First, he announced to the world that his dear friend, Carl Alexander Prince von Hohenzollern, cancelled his wedding to his bikini model girlfriend. Then he announced that he has Shingles and then days later he was hit by a car in Beverly Hills whilst jaywalking.  Nevertheless, that is in the past and now there is finally some good news. So what’s the news? Well, he’s running for mayor here in Los Angeles!  YAY!!

Now this isn’t the first time the faux prince was in the running for a political seat.  Back in 2010 he ran for governor of California.

Any way…

The faux prince says that if he is elected mayor he wants to lower utility bills, cut taxes, end homelessness because “… [I] see people eating out of trash cans every day. This must end!” as he drives by them in his Rolls Royce.

The Dutch Royal Family Attend the 40th Anniversary Gala of Introdans (VIDEO)

On October 7, 2011, Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, H.R.H. Prince Willem-Alexander of Oranje, H.R.H. T.R.H.s Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia News (VIDEO)

On October 7, 2011, T.R.H.s Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias were at the port of Alicante, Spain to visit the “…Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12 fleet prior to the start of the Alicante qualifying race…”  There was also a christening ceremony whereupon H.R.H. Princess Letizia became the godmother of the team, Telefónica.

Per the official website for the royal house of Spain, Casa de Su Majestad el Rey:

…during the christening ceremony, Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia were accompanied by the local dignitaries as well as others in the sailing world.  After a working meeting on the issues of craft technology and the impact economically in the region associated with holding the Volvo Ocean Race…
