On the afternoon of Wednesday, January 6, 2016, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands attended the 2016 Tuinbouw Ondernemersprijs award ceremony during the Keukenhof Flower Show in Lisse. The theme of this year’s award: Future proof Ondernemen.
Established in 1986, the award raises awareness in horticulture as well as to generate interest in promoting the positive developments in the horticultural sector through innovative and sustainable entrepreneurship.
The winner to the 2016 Tuinbouw Ondernemersprijs went to Boomkwekerij Ebben.

(VIDEO) HM Queen Margrethe II of Denmark Hosts a New Year’s Reception.
On the morning of Wednesday, January 6, 2016, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark hosted a reception for members of the Danish Armed Forces and the Emergency Management Agency, I., II. and III. ranked classes as well as invited representatives of major national organizations and patronages held at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen.
Prior to this morning’s reception Her Majesty was escorted in a beautiful golden carriage from Christian VII’s Palace to Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen by the Gardehusarregimentets Hesteskorte (Guard Hussar Regiment’s Horse Escort).

On the afternoon of January 5, 2016, His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium held an audience with Belgian table tennis champion and Olympian, Mr. Jean-Michel Saive, at the Palais Royal in Brussels.
Last month — December 3 to be exact — Mr. Saive, who participated in the Olympic Games seven times, announced his retirement from the international sports scene.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, January 5, 2015, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark hosted the 2016 Nytårskur (New Year’s court) reception for members of the diplomatic corps held at Christiansborg Slot in Copenhagen.
Earlier in the day, Her Majesty hosted Nytårskur for members of the Højesterets Dommere (Supreme Court judges), Den Kongelige Livgardes (the Royal Life Guards) and the Gardehusarregimentets Officerskorpsat (Guard Hussar Regiment’s Officer Corps) at Christian VII’s Palace, Amalienborg, in Copenhagen.

On the morning of Saturday, January 2, 2016, Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan accompanied by TIHs Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako of Japan, TIHs Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko of Japan, TIHs Princess Kako and Princess Mako of Japan, TIHs Prince Hitachi and Princess Hitachi, TIHs Prince Mikasa and Princess Mikasa, and TIHs Princess Tomohito and Princess Akiko of Mikasa appeared on the Chowa-den Hall balcony at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo to wish 45,000 Japanese citizens as well as tourists a very Happy New Year.
In his speech to the crowd Emperor Akihito stated “…I am truly pleased to celebrate this New Year with you. From the start of this New Year, I pray for peace for our nation and for the world…”
