Yesterday, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain was in El Alto, Bolivia, where she gave a speech expressing her:
“…admiration for the work of the Spanish aid workers in Bolivia, that helps improve the lives of half a million families, and showed their support for the educational development in the most disadvantaged populations of Bolivia…”
Her Majesty also visited Tiwanaku to “…check progress of the archaeological work carried out in the ruins of this ancient pre-Columbian city…”
Today, Her Majesty flew to Santa Cruz de la Sierra in eastern Bolivia to meet with Governor Rubén Costas to discuss “… projects supported by Spanish cooperation…”
On Thursday, October 18, 2012, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco arrived in Kraków on their second day of their official three-day visit to Poland.
This morning the princely couple met with the Mayor of Kraków, Mr. Jacek Majchrowski, who gave them a tour of “…some of Kraków’s municipal headquarters. The conversation concerned local tourism, ecology, and activities…” according to Mayor Majchrowski. “The prince is also a member of the International Olympic Committee and the issue of Kraków hosting the Winter Olympics was also discussed.”
Soon, the sovereign prince and princess “…went to Wawel Hill where they given a private tour of Wawel Castle and Wawel Cathedral… ” Afterward, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene visited the University of Jagiellonian where the sovereign prince held a private meeting with Professor Wojciech Nowak. Prince Albert II then gave a lectureat the University of Jagiellonian regarding “…climate change in the polar zone.”
Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain is currently in Bolivia for an official four-day visit. Yesterday, Her Majesty visited the Museo Nacional de Arte de Bolivia and held a meeting with the President of Bolivia, Mr. Juan Evo Morales, at the Palacio del Gobierno. During the meeting President Morales thanked Her Majesty for Spain’s support:
“… in improving health and education in Bolivia, and expressed confidence that this would continue in the future and reconfirmed that he will attend the Ibero-American Summit in Cadiz, which will be held in mid-November.”
Also on today’s agenda, the duke attended a “… reception to mark the re-naming of The Adelphi Room to The Prince Philip Room at The Royal Society of the encouragement of the Arts, Manufactures & Commerce…” in London. He also hosted a luncheon at Buckingham Palace for members of the Federation of London Youth Clubs.
On October 17, 2012, Her Royal Highness Infanta Elena presided over the 10th Edition of the Premios Ciudad Sostenible (Sustainable City Awards) held at the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid:
“The awards are presented to municipalities and cities in Spain who have opted for projects and actions aimed at promoting sustainability.”
