His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan arrived at the King Hussein Air College in Amman this morning to attend the graduation ceremony of the 42nd Class of Air Force Cadets of the Jordan Armed Forces.

This afternoon, His Majesty held an audience with the European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy, Mr. Štefan Füle, at the royal palace in Amman.  Discussions focused on the Syrian crisis and the latest developments in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Her Majesty Queen Rania was at the Children’s Museum Jordan to attend the opening of the new exhibition entitled, I Am Change.  According to Petra News, the exhibit:

“…aims to raise children’s awareness on water and energy conservation and hopes to challenge children’s conceptions related to water and energy and orient them to a ‘new mindset’ about the role every citizen can play to conserve water and energy. 

I Am Change will also introduce children to new ways of preserving these vital sources; to teach them about alternative energy sources and environmental protection.”

camillaHer Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall arrived at the Mead Community Primary School in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, this afternoon to participate in Big Lunch. Established in 2009 Big Lunch’s purpose is:

“…to get as many people as possible across the whole of the United Kingdom to have lunch with their neighbors once a year in a simple act of community, friendship and fun.

A Big Lunch can be anything from a few neighbors getting together in the garden or on the street, to a full-blown street party with food, music and decoration that quite literally stops the traffic.”

On the afternoon of June 2, 2013, His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II of Jordan attended the launch of the Democracy Empowerment Program held at the Royal Cultural Center in Amman.

According to Petra News this new program:

“…focuses on cementing development values which are based on the rule of law, renouncing violence, encouraging he acceptance of others, creating dialogue nd accountability, as well as the motivation of civil society organizations to play their role as a basic supporter of the citizen and his causes.

The program [also] seeks to engage all segments of society, especially youths, in consciously building a democratic culture, enhancing the means of practicing this culture through democratic institutions and supportive civil society organizations based upon the confidence and ability to change and take part in moving the wheel of development.”
