Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden Visit Northern Norway. Day One (VIDEOS)

On June 18, 2013, Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden arrived in Harstad to begin their two-day official visit to northern Norway at the invitation of Their Majesties King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway.  The purpose of the visit is to strengthen economic and bilateral ties between to two countries.

Anyway, today the reigning couples visited the energy company, Staoil, where they met with company officials and attended a presentation.  Then they visited the Stanges School where they met with faculty and students.  Soon, it was time for lunch at the Røkenes Gård.  Several hours later Their Majesties attended the festival exhibition entitled, Pioneer Voices, and attended a reception on the K/S Norge.

News Regarding Members of the Belgian Royal Family.

belgiumOn the morning of June 18, 2013, His Royal Highness Prince Philippe of Belgium arrived in Strombeek-Bever, Grimbergen, to visit Procter & Gamble’s Brussels Innovation Center.  According to the Belgian royal court, during his visit the prince toured the center, attended a workshop, and met with company staff.

In the afternoon, the prince joined Her Royal Highness Princess Mathilde of Belgium and Their Majesties King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium at Château de Laeken to attend a reception for various ambassadors accredited to, well, Belgium.   🙂

HM King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands in Den Haag. (VIDEO)

On the morning of June 18, 2013, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands arrived in Den Haag to visit the Stichting Saffier De Residentiegroep’s (Foundation Sapphire Residence Group) Generatietuin van Nederland (Generation Garden Netherlands).

According to RVD, the Generatietuin van Nederland is a place where youth come after school to spend time with residents of a retirement home.  During visits the residents and the youth garden together, eat, and simply hang out and enjoy each other’s company.

His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco Visits Jerusalem, Israel.

alOn June 18, 2013, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco arrived in Jerusalem, Israel to attend the 90th birthday celebrations for the President of Israel, Mr. Shimon Peres, and to participate in the 5th Israeli Presidential Conference Facing Tomorrow: The Human Factor in Shaping Tomorrow.

The three-day conference will focus on the:

“…special emphasis to the human factor and its role in shaping our tomorrow. We will ask whether the quality of leadership – in all realms of human activity – can make a difference. What is the desired dynamic in relationships between people and leaders in the face of powerful processes of change? To what degree can human beings really be involved in influencing their futures? We will examine what threats may lie in an individual’s tomorrow, in terms of identity, family, health, ability to find happiness, and meaning in life.” 

Prior to the sovereign prince’s attendance at  President Peres birthday celebrations this evening he had a chance to visit the famous Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Museum in Jerusalem.  Whilst there Prince Albert II toured the Hall of Names as well as placed a wreath in the Hall of Remembrance.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Attends Day One of Royal Ascot.

qeiiOn June 18, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall attended Day One of Royal Ascot held at the Royal Ascot Racecourse.

Prior to the beginning of the races Her Majesty led a moment of silence for the late “…horse racing trainer, Sir Henry Cecil who died last week at the aged 70…” according to ITV News.

Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan Attends a Workshop with Youth Volunteers. (VIDEO)

According to Petra News, on the morning of June 17, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan met with:

“…youth volunteers of the Voluntary Initiatives Network Society participating in workshop sessions that aims to organize volunteers’ efforts in Jordan.  [The queen] attended part of a workshop session that divided volunteers into five different categories based on fields they serve in: education and development. target groups, knowledge building and awareness, environment and tourism and maintenance.

Her Majesty highlighted the need to exchange ideas and experiences between initiatives working in different fields and governorates and find creative ways to link them together and help them overcome the challenges they face.”

His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias Inaugurates a New High-Speed Train Route. (VIDEO)

On Monday, June 17, 2013, His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias accompanied by the Prime Minister of Spain, Mr. Mariano Rajoy, and dozens of other government officials participated in the inauguration of the AVE Madrid-Alicante high-speed train route. And, that’s it.

Oh, wait!  He also unveiled two new shiny plaques commemorating today’s opening and gave a speech.   🙂
