Princess Madeleine of Sweden’s Fiancé is Not a Happy Camper.

srf-coaRecently, Mr. Christopher O’Neill was out and about in New York City walking Princess Madeleine’s dog, Zorro, and generally enjoying his day.  When Mr. O’Neill noticed that someone was snapping photos of him he decided he had enough. So, he gave the photographer the Happy Finger.  Can’t say I blame him.

And, finally, it was announced last month that Mr. O’Neill will not be attending the Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm on December 10, 2012.  The reason: He’s too busy with work.  Nevertheless, Princess Madeleine will attend alongside Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, Their Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel and His Royal Highness Prince Carl Philip.

Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden visited the exhibition, Princess Estelle: Birth and Baptism, held at the royal palace in Stockholm on November 27, 2012.  Her Majesty was given a private tour of this exhibition which ends on March 3, 2013.

News Regarding Members of the Swedish Royal Family.

On November 21, 2012, His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden held an audience with General Håkan Syrén at the royal palace in Stockholm.  His Majesty also attended the Swedish Foreign Trade Association’s 125th anniversary celebrations in Stockholm.

Meanwhile, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden visited the municipality of Fagersta.  The purpose of the crown prince couple’s visit is to learn “… how Fagersta municipality is working on integration issues…” according to the Swedish royal court.

News Regarding Members of the Swedish Royal Family.

On November 14, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden held an audience with  politicians from Libya, Tunisia, and Egypt.  According to the Swedish royal court:

“The politicians are here to share experiences and discuss the obstacles that female politicians face in different countries. The overall objective is to strengthen women in their political work and to increase the representation of women in decision making bodies. Another aim is that they will network and exchange experiences with Swedish politicians. 

They will also meet with Swedish parliamentarians in a roundtable discussion, the Swedish ambassador in Libya and Tunisia and other representatives of the MFA and Sida.”

Meanwhile, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden attended a charity auction in Stockholm “… on the occasion of World Diabetes Day…” according to the Expressen newspaper.

H.R.H. Princess Madeleine of Sweden and Mr. Christopher O’Neill Attend an Award Ceremony.

On the evening of November 7, 2012, Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine of Sweden and her fiance, Mr. Christopher O’Neill, attended the Raoul Wallenberg Civic Courage Awards held at the Yale Club in New York City.

The award was presented to:

“… the Hon. Raymond W. Kelly, Police Commissioner of the City of New York. The award will also be presented on the celebratory occasion of the 100th birthday of Raoul Wallenberg, the heroic Swedish diplomat who led an extensive and successful mission to save the lives of nearly 100,000 Jews in Nazi-occupied Hungary.”

On October 25, 2012, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden attended the opening of the Alfons Åberg Kulturhus in Göteborg.

Whilst at the opening a Swedish journalist asked Crown Princess Victoria what she thought about the recent engagement announcement between Princess Madeleine and Mr. Christopher O’Neill, “It’s terrific.  We are all very happy…” beamed the crown princess.

In other news, Princess Madeleine and Mr. Christopher O’Neill have left Sweden this afternoon bound for London, England.  The Swedish royal court Information Officer, Mr. Bertil Ternert, noted that the couple are in London to meet with relatives.  It is unknown how long they will stay in the city.  Click here  to watch a video.

PMCO2012Now that the lovely Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine of Sweden is engaged to her American financier boyfriend, Mr. Christopher O’Neill, perhaps you are wondering, Who is this guy?

Well, here is his CV courtesy of the Swedish royal court:

“Christopher O’Neill was born on June 27, 1974, in London, England, where he grew up with his parents, Eva Maria and Paul O’Neill.

He has dual citizenship in the United States and the United Kingdom, and has five half sisters – Tatyana, Natascha, Stephanie, Annalisa, and Karen.

Christopher O’Neill studied at our Residential Institutions auf dem Rosenberg in St. Gallen, Switzerland, before he received a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Boston University. In addition, Christopher O’Neill, holds a Master in Business Administration from Columbia Business School in New York.

Over the past 16 years, Christopher O’Neill worked in the financial industry, for companies such as NM Rothchild & Sons, and Steinberg Asset Management. Today, is Christopher O’Neill, partner and Head of Research at Noster Capital, a finance company with offices in London and New York.

Since the early years, Christopher O’Neill has been engaged in various sports and outdoor activities such as downhill skiing, tennis, golf, music, literature, and likes the Chelsea Football Club’s among other interests.

Christopher O’Neill’s father, Paul O’Neill, originally moved to London from New York in the 1960s to become the European headquarters for Oppenheimer & Co., a New York-based investment bank. Paul O’Neill left in December 2004.  Mrs. Eva Maria O’Neill is involved in a number of charitable organizations with particular focus on the cultural preservation of Salzburg, Austria.”
