The Members of the Spanish Royal Family Attend Easter Mass at the Cathedral de Palma de Mallorca (VIDEO)

Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain along with princely family of Asturias and Her Royal Highness Infanta Elena participated in Easter Sunday Mass held at the Cathedral de Palma de Mallorca on April 8, 2012.

Prior to the Mass the royal family were greeted by the Bishop of Mallorca, Jesus Murgui, the President of the Council de Mallorca, Ms. Maria Salom, and the President of the Balearic Islands, Mr. José Ramón Bauzá to name a few.

His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain Unveils a New Plaque in Moster (VIDEO)

On March 29, 2012, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain unveiled a new plaque in the “…Bosnian community of Mostar” on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the arrival of the Spanish army in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The ceremony, held in Mostar’s main square which was renamed Plaza de España, was also attended by the President of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Izet Izetbegovic, the Mayor of Mostar, various representatives from UNESCO, and local dignitaries to name a few.

Afterward, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I participated in a meeting with President Izet Izetbegovic and representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina.  Then it was off to tour the “… old bridge of Mostar…”  Finally, President Izet Izetbegovic hosted a luncheon in honor of His Majesty King Juan Carlos I’s visit to the region.

Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain Participate in the XXIX Edition of the International Journalism Awards ‘King of Spain’ and the VIII Edition of the Don Quixote Award for Journalism. (VIDEO)

On March 28, 2012, Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain participated in the XXIX Edition of the International Journalism Awards “King Spain” and the VIII Edition of the Don Quixote Award for Journalism in Madrid, Spain.

Their Majesties were accompanied by the Vice-President of the Government and Minister of Presidency, Ms. Soraya Sáenz Santamaría and the Chief Executive of the Agencia EFE, Mr. José Antonio Vera to name a few.

The top awards were presented to Mr. Ricardo Cantalapiedra Moro and Mr. Fernando Molina. Awards were also handed out in the fields of photography, digital media, radio and television.

Her Majesty Queen Sophia of Spain Opens the Exhibition, ‘Tesoros Preincas de la Cultura Mochica: El Señor de Sipán, Huaca de la Luna y la Dama de Cao’

Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain opened the new exhibition entitled, Tesoros Preincas de la Cultura Mochica: El Señor de Sipán, Huaca de la Luna y la Dama de Cao, on March 27, 2012 in Cádiz, Spain.

Her Majesty was accompanied by the Minister of Education, Culture and Sport, Mr. Jose Ignacio Wert; the Ambassador of the Republic of the Peru in Spain, Mr. Francisco Eguiguren and the Mayor of Cádiz, Ms. Teófila Martínez.

During her visit the queen, along with the curator of the exhibition, Ms. Carmen Montes and archaeologists Ricardo Morales and Leonel Walter Alva, “…received explanations the exhibits pre-Inca Moche culture and treasures…” 

According to the Spanish royal court and Cádiz2012.es:

This exhibition, organized by the Town Hall of Cádiz, unveils the pieces discovered in recent archaeological excavations in Peru.  Cádiz, the Ibero-American Capital of Culture in 2012, is the first city outside of Peru to host this exhibition in commemoration of the bicentennial of the Spanish Constitution 1812.

Artifacts on display are considered as one of the greatest treasures discovered  in recent time; comparing it comparing it with the discovery of tomb of the Maya Pacal King or the discovery of Machu Picchu.

Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias Attend ‘Alimentaria 2012’ in Barcelona (VIDEO)

On March 26, 2012, Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias attended the opening of the 19th annual International Alimentaria 2012, a food and beverages exhibition, in Barcelona.

The event, which ends on March 29, brings together food lovers as well as “…international food and beverage manufacturers and distributors to showcase their brands, establish business contacts, and attract new customers.”

His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias Holds Audiences. Plus, News Regarding Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain.

His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias held audiences at Zarzuela Palace in Madrid this afternoon with various representatives from the Business Federation of Graphic Industries, the INESCOP, CME and others.

Meanwhile on Thursday, March 22, 2012, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I held an audience with the President of Fomento del Trabajo Nacional, Mr. Joaquim Gay Montellà i Ferrer-Vidal.

Finally, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain presided over the National Design and Innovation Awards in Bilbao.  The queen was accompanied by the Secretary of State for research, development and innovation, Ms. Carmen Vela, the Government Delegate in the Autonomous Community of the Basque country, Mr. Carlos de Urquijo, Deputy General of the Diputación Foral de Bizkaia, Mr. José Luis Bilbao, and the Mayor of Bilbao, Mr. Iñaki Azkuna.

According to the Spanish royal court the National Design and Innovation Awards:

… are granted by the Secretariat of State for Research, Development and Innovation – attached to the Ministry of economy and competitiveness, are presented to the most outstanding in recognition to companies and professionals who have excelled by his career exemplary in the field of design and innovation and are awarded in seven categories: Capital risk, purchase public innovative, internationalization, resources innovators, innovative path and the two modes of design, professional and enterprise.

Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain Attend the Inauguration of the University Hospital King Juan Carlos (VIDEO)

On March 21, 2012, Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain attended the inauguration of the University Hospital King Juan Carlos in Móstoles.

The reigning couple were greeted by local dignitaries including the Mayor of Móstoles, Mr. Daniel Ortiz, the Health Minister of the Community of Madrid, Mr. Javier Fernández-Lasquetty to name a few.

Once inside the new public hospital Their Majesties unveiled a new plaque, toured the new facility,  and meet with hospital staff.
