It was announced by the Spanish royal court that His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias will attend the funeral of President Hugo Chávez in Caracas, Venezuela, on Friday, March 8, 2013. The prince will be accompanied by the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and for Latin America, Mr. Jesús Gracia.
Meanwhile, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain has sent a message of condolence “…to the Venezuelan people on Wednesday…” according to El Pais. In his statement His Majesty recalled “…Chávez’s ‘determination and dedication’ in helping Venezuela and the rest of Latin America…” Thankfully, the old king didn’t remind the people and the government of Venezuela that he once told the late President Chávez to “Shut Up!” during the 17th Ibero-American Summit in Santiago, Chile back in 2007.
For those who have never seen the infamous “Shut Up” video (w/ English sub-titles)
On the morning of March 6, 2013, an “…oxygen tank explosion and fire broke out in the broiler room…” at the La Milagrosa Hospital in Madrid where His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spainis currently recovering from his operation last Sunday. Five people were injured according to several sources. As for His Majesty, well, he’s doing just fine and dandy. The old king was located in another section of the hospital far from the accident.
Any way, this afternoon Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias along with their daughters stopped by the hospital to visit His Majesty. Thankfully, the press was there to take photos of the royal family walking into and out of the hospital. 🙂
On March 6, 2013, His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias “…visited the second phase of line 9 of the Metro in Madrid…” according to the Spanish royal court. During his visit Prince Felipe “…inspected the inside of the tunnel and met with workers as well as representatives from the companies working on the project.”
On March 5, 2013, Their Royal HighnessesPrince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias attended the inauguration of the new facility, INDESA 2010.
Upon their arrival the royal couple were not exactly warmly welcomed. The people screaming outside the facility were protesting the company’s crappy working conditions.
On March 4, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain attended a “…tribute ceremony in memory…” of the late Professor Don Juan Antonio Carrillo Salcedo, held at the Real Academia de Ciencias Morales and Políticas in Madrid.
After a three-hour surgery for a herniated disc “…on the lumbosacral area of the spine” His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain is currently resting at La Milagrosa Clinic in Madrid.
Following His Majesty’s successful surgery, Dr. Manuel de la Torre Gutiérrez, announced in a press conference that His Majesty would need at least “…two to six months of rehabilitation. The first phase will focus on the lower back and later continue with leg exercises”
At this time His Majesty will remain the hospital for another week according to Dr. de la Torre Gutiérrez.
And, finally, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain, Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias, Infanta Elena and Infanta Cristina visited His Majesty after the surgery.
While his former “alleged” lover, Princess Corinna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein, is blabbing to the press about how her life has become so “unbearable” after the infamous Botswana Affair broke in the Spanish press, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain is currently recovering at home after having an “…adjustment on his left hip.”
According to EFE, His Majesty checked into the USP San José Madrid Hospital on Wednesday after complaining about:
“…feeling uncomfortable. After several X-rays the doctors found that His Majesty has suffered a ‘slight dislocation’ on his left hip which was operated on last November. The issue was resolved around noon without surgery. He’s home now and resting.”
On Sunday, His Majesty will check into La Milagrosa Clinic where he will undergo yet another surgery for his herniated disc “…on the lumbosacral area of the spine.”
Poor guy. This year, so far, sure sucks for the old king.
Get better, Juan! 🙂
