On March 21, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain presided over the delivery of the XXX Edition of the Premios Internacionales de Periodismo Rey de España and the IX Edition of the Premio Don Quijote de Periodismo award ceremony held a the Casa de América in Madrid.
On the evening of March 20, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias and Her Royal Highness Infanta Elena of Spain hosted a gala dinner for members of the Comisión de Evaluación del Comité Olímpico Internacional at Palacio Real de Madrid.
According to the Spanish royal court the IOC Evaluación del Comité are on a four-day visit to Spain. The purpose: To inspect as well as analzye if the city of Madrid is a good candidate/worthy enough to host the upcoming 2020 Olympic Games.
On March 20, 2013, His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias held audiences at Palacio de la Zarzuela with the winners of the Fondo de Emprendedores Fundación Repsol and the jury, students and professors from Columbia University Business School who are participating in the 2013 Chazen Study Tour, and representatives from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM España).
On March 15, 2013, His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias held an audience with the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, General Knud Bartels, at Palacio de la Zarzuela in Madrid.
Last evening, Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia attended a concert entitled, Clásica Para los Jóvenes de Hoy, held at the Gran Teatro del Liceo in Barcelona. The concert was organized by the Fundación Príncipe de Girona in collaboration with the Festival Castell de Peralada.

On March 14, 2013, Her Royal Highness Infanta Elena of Spain presided over the V Premios Jóvenes Emprendedores Sociales de la Universidad Europea de Madrid award ceremony.
These awards recognizes the “…merits of young entrepreneurs who help to improve social or environmental situations.”
On March 13, 2013, Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain sent a telegram of congratulations to His Holiness Pope Francis I for “…being the 266th successor of St. Peter.”
