On the afternoon of July 23, 2013, Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias arrived at the Complejo Cultural San Francisco in Cáceres, Spain to preside over meeting with eighty directors of the Centros del Instituto Cervantes.
Created in 1991 by the Spanish government the purpose of the Instituto Cervantes is to “…promote the Spanish language and to contribute to the advancement of the cultures of all Spanish speaking countries and communities.”
On the morning of July 22, 2013, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain presided over a meeting of the Consejo de Jefes de Estado Mayor in Madrid. Basically, today’s event was an important yet incredibly boring meeting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Spanish military.
On July 16, 2013, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain continued four-day visit to Rabat, Morocco. Yesterday, His Majesty and his delegation visited the Mausoleum of Mohammed V in Rabat. Whilst there His Majesty placed a wreath at the tomb of the late King Mohammed V and the late King Hassan II.
In the afternoon, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I accompanied by His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco attended the inauguration of the exhibition, 25 Años de Cooperación Arqueológica Hispano-Marroqui (25 years of Moroccan-Spanish Archaeological Cooperation) at the Royal Library and Archives of Morocco. During yesterday’s event His Majesty King Juan Carlos I delivered digitized copies of Arabic manuscripts from the Real Biblioteca de San Lorenzo El Escorial in Spain to the library in Rabat.
On the morning of July 16, 2013, Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias arrived in Marín, located in north-west Spain, to participate in the Escuela Naval Militar de Oficiales graduation ceremony. During today’s event Prince Felipe presented commissions to 86 Naval officers.
On the morning of July 15, 2013, His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias held and audience at Palacio de la Zarzuela with members of the Sociedad Bicentenario General Prim 2014.
Afterward, the future king of Spain met with representatives from the Ayuntamiento de Viana, the Real Estamento del Principado de Gerona, and Cuerpo de la Nobleza del Principado de Asturias. During the meeting the representatives presented the prince with a book entitled, Los Principados y Títulos del Heredero de la Corona: En el V Centenario de la Reunificación Política de Los Reinos de España (1512-2012).
On the morning of July 15, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain arrived in Corias, just south-west of Oviedo, to preside over the inauguration of the hotel Parador Monasterio de Corias, a former monastery founded in the 11th century by Benedictine monks.
Meanwhile, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain accompanied by his delegation arrived in Rabat, Morocco, to begin his four-day official visit. The purposeof His Majesty’s visit is to strengthen bilateral, cultural and economic ties between the two countries.
Anyway, upon his arrival at the Rabat–Salé Airport His Majesty was warmly greeted by His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco. Afterward, the two kings had a brief photo-op before holding a private meeting.
This afternoon at Palacio de la Zarzuela His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain — looking incredibly frail — and His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias participated in a meeting with members of the Consejo de Seguridad Nacional.
