On December 12, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain attended the launch of Google Cultural Institute’s new app, La Herencia Española en los Estados Unidos de América (Spanish Legacy in the United States of America), at Casa de América in Madrid.

According to the Spanish news agency, EFE, the app “…includes text, images, recreations, photos and maps spanning the centuries from the Spanish colonial epoch up to the present day.”

On December 13, 2013, Her Royal Highness Princess Letizia of Asturias arrived at the Centro Cultural Conde Duque in Madrid to visit the XXXVII Salón del Libro Infantil y Juvenil de Madrid.

On Tuesday, December 10, Her Royal Highness Princess Letizia of Asturias presided over the Medallas de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes held at Palacio Real de El Pardo in Madrid. 

According to the Spanish royal court this award recognizes:

“…individuals and organizations that have excelled in the field of artistic and cultural creation or have rendered notable service in the promotion, development and dissemination of art and culture and conservation of artistic heritage.”

On Tuesday, December 3, 2013, His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias presided over the 2013 Premios Arquitectura Española Internacional held at the Palacio del Senado in Madrid.

On Monday, December 2, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias and Her Royal Highness Infanta Elena of Spain presided over the delivery of the Premios Nacionales del Deporte 2012 held at Palacio Real de El Pardo in Madrid.

On Wednesday, November 28, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain presided over the 21st Edición Española of the 12th Edición Iberoamericana de los Premios Reina Sofía Contra las Drogas de la Fundación CREFAT held at Palacio de La Zarzuela in Madrid.

This morning Her Majesty visited the Zoo Aquarium de Madrid in Casa de Campo in Madrid.  During the visit Her Majesty had a chance to meet with staff and cuddle cute baby Pandas.

In the afternoon, Her Majesty attended the XXIV Edition of the Premio Tomás Francisco Prieto de Medallística held at the Museo Casa de la Moneda in Madrid.  During today’s award ceremony Her Majesty presented artist, Ms. Cristina Iglesias, with 2013 Premio Tomás Francisco Prieto de Medallística.  After the ceremony, Her Majesty opened the new exhibition, Inicios, by Mr. Juan Navarro. 

On Wednesday, November 27, 2013, Her Royal Highness Princess Letizia of Asturias arrived at the Palacio de Congresos y Auditorio de Navarra, Baluarte in Pamplona, Spain, to presides over the inauguration of the XVI Congreso Estatal del Voluntariado.

During this morning’s inauguration the future queen of Spain presented the 2013 Premios Estatales al Voluntariado Social to several individuals and associations.
