On Wednesday, January 22, 2014, Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain held an audience with the President of Colombia, Mr. Juan Manuel Santos Calderón, and his wife, First Lady María Clemencia Rodríguez Múnera, at Palacio de la Zarzuela in Madrid.

On January 22, 2014, Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias attended the opening of the 34th Edition of the Feria Internacional de Turismo (FITUR) at the Parque Ferial Juan Carlos I in Madrid.

The FITUR is a “…global meeting point for tourism professionals and the leading trade fair for inbound and outbound Ibero-American markets.”

On January 21, 2014, His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias arrived at the Centro de Convenciones IFEMA-Norte in Madrid to participate in the closing meeting of the VII Foro de Liderazgo Turístico de Exceltur.

On Tuesday, January 21, 2014, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain was presented with credentials at Palacio de la Zarzuela from Ambassadors representing the countries of Jamaica, Nepal, Belarus, Trinidad and Tobago, Tanzania, Namibia, Rwanda, Iceland, Laos, Turkmenistan, Benin, Singapore, Togo, and Western Samoa (aka the Independent State of Samoa).

On January 20, 2014, Her Royal Highness Princess Letizia of Asturias participated in a meeting with members of the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer held at the headquarters of the AECC in Madrid.

On Thursday, January 16, 2014, His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias arrived at the Monasterio de Yuste in Cuacos de Yuste to preside over the Premio Europeo Carlos V.

The winner of the award went to the President of the European Commission, Mr. José Manuel Durão Barroso, for his:

“…career, his commitment to the European unification policy, his work in the interest of citizen participation in the process of European integration, and his commitment to bringing Europe closer to its citizens, seeking always the common good above individual interests.”
