On June 25, 2013, His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan held an important meeting with the European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, and the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Emma Bonino, in Amman.
According to Petra News, discussions focused on issues related to the Middle East and the Syrian crisis which:
“…Jordan is shouldering the burdens that are both heavy and increasing while straining its limited resources and infrastructures as a result of the influx of Syrian refugees, and urged the international community to continue assuming its responsibilities to support the country’s assistance to refugees…”
On Monday, June 24, 2013, His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan visited the General Headquarters of the Jordanian Armed Forces in Amman. During his visit His Majesty held meetings with various military officials including the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mashaal Mohammad Zaben, according to Petra News.
Afterward, His Majesty opened the new Army’s Officers Club where he unveiled a plaque and toured the new facility.
On Sunday, June 23, 2013, Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan welcomed the President of France, Mr. François Hollande and his partner, Ms.Valérie Trierweiler, to Al-Hummar Palace in Amman, Jordan. The purpose of President Hollande’s visit to Jordan is to “…enhance bilateral cooperation and developments in the Middle East” according to Petra News.
After the traditional welcoming ceremony and the inspection of the guard His Majesty and President Hollande held a meeting to discuss various issues including the Syrian crisis.
His Majesty also attended the 50th anniversary of the Amman Chamber of Industry celebrations this afternoon in Amman. Petra News notes that His Majesty “…honored [the] former chairman and board of directors for their efforts and contributions to develop Jordanian industry.”
On June 20, 2013, His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan arrived at the British Royal College of Defence Studies in London to give a lecture about the Syrian crisis, ways to achieve peace in the Middle East and much more.
His Majesty also attended a lunch meeting with “…UK leaders from government, parliament, and think tanks…” prior to his departure to Amman, Jordan this evening.
On the afternoon of June 19, 2013, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II of Jordan attended a graduation ceremony at the Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II Academy of Civil Protection in south Amman.
On Wednesday, June 19, 2013, His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan arrived at 10 Downing Street in London, England to met with British Prime Minister, Mr. David Cameron. Discussions focused on the Syrian crisis, ways to achieve peace and end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based upon the two-state solution according to Petra News.
Earlier in the day His Majesty met with members of British Parliament where discussions focused on the Syrian crisis and the “…burden borne by Jordan, which hosts more than a half a million Syrian refugees, urging the international community to provide more assistance to Jordan in this regard.”
On the morning of June 18, 2013, His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan left his home country for London, England for a brief official visit. According to Petra News, His Majesty will hold a meeting with British Prime Minister, Mr. David Cameron, British Foreign Minister, Mr. William Hague, and with members of British Parliament. His Majesty is also expected to “…deliver a lecture at the British Royal College of Defense Studies.”
