Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan held an audience with Dr. Helene Gayle, President and CEO of CARE USA, and representatives from CARE in the Middle East and CARE Jordan in Amman this afternoon.
According to Petra News, during the meeting discussions focused on CARE’s work “…in Jordan and the region.”
On September 26, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan attended the 2013 Global Citizen Awards Gala in New York City. During last evening’s event Her Majesty was awarded the 2013 Atlantic Council Global Citizen Award for:
“…her impressive humanitarian leadership and efforts that have helped bring about positive change around the world. Through her role as a member of the United Nations High-Level Panel on the Post-2015 Development Agenda and her advocacy for global education and the empowerment of women, Queen Rania raises awareness about violence against children and works toward bridging cultural and religious divides—at a time when this is most needed.”
On the evening of September 25, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan attended the 7th Annual Clinton Global Citizen Awards ceremony and dinner in New York City.
During the event Her Majesty presented the Leadership in Civil Society Award to 16-year-old, Miss Malala Yousafzai, co-founder of the Malala Fund and advocate for educational rights for girls as well as women’s rights.
On September 23, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan gave an important speech during the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) meeting, Education Cannot Wait, held at the United Nations headquarters in New York City. The meeting “…called for global action on education in crisis-affected areas around the world…” according to UN.org.

On his final day in Beijing, China, His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan met with the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, inside the Great Hall of People.
After an official welcoming ceremony, His Majesty and President Jinping got down to business. Discussions between the two leaders mainly focused on bilateral relations, ways to achieve peace in the Middle East, and the crisis in Syria and the immense burden the crisis has put on Jordan by hosting hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees.
According to several sources including AFP, His Majesty King Abdullah II “…called on China to play an active role in resolving the conflict in Syria, saying that Beijing should use its influence as a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council and as a ‘friend of Jordan and the Middle East.’”
After his meeting with President Jinping His Majesty met with the Premier of the People’s Republic of China, Li Keqiang.
Yesterday, His Majesty participated in a roundtable discussion at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and opened the 1st Edition of the China-Jordan Business Forum in Beijing.
On Monday, September 16, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan arrived in the city of Irbid to attend “…a health open-day held by the Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS) at Khadeeja Um Il Mo’mineen School for Girls…” according to Petra News.
His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan arrived in China yesterday to begin his brief visit at the invitation of the President of China, Xi Jinping.
This morning His Majesty held a meeting with the chairman of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Mr. Yu Zhengsheng, in Yinchuan City, China. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties between Jordan and China in the areas of industry, investment and trade according to Petra News.
Afterward, His Majesty attended the opening of the 1st Edition of the China-Arab States Expo in Yinchuan City. The purpose of the event is to promote trade between China and the Arab states.
